I am going to look at a vendo 39.   According to the seller... a nice older guy..  Cord was replaced.  Not a repaint and looks good, plugs in and works.  Works as in properly cools, accepts coin, and rotates/dispenses.

Without photos...and presuming it looks good from 15 feet away... what might it be worth low value and high value.

Thanks for your thoughts..and advise.

Bill,
Could you tell what version it is?
Early - two cabinet louvers, embossed Ice Cold w/ rib and correct coin door.
Later - multi louvers, smooth lower cabinet door or with embossed Vendo
Condition, condition & condition...
Low end complete & working properly, $500
High price could be around $1000 or more depending on condition...
Good Luck ! ! !

UPDATE:

Here is a photo of the actual machine.  FULLY FUNCTIONS!  Cools, dispenses, change system works and all.

Now, what do you think the top dollar is for this.. if it is as he says!

Thanks folks.. I really appreciate the input.

It is a nice original but I would still say $1,000 tops. If you are looking for just a nice machine to display for yourself then even $1,200 would be fine. I'm afraid seller is going to say $2,000-$2,500 in which I would walk away.

Bill, that is a very nice original.  happydrinkers
The price limit these guys are advising you on is because a very large number of these early 39's were produced.
Survival rate is just as high, meaning more sellers have a similar item and that's what holds down value.  darn

If your getting it for yourself as a keeper, then Pay what you feel you can afford.. but as far as value, keep in mind this is a nice original and would not need a 1500+- paint job/body work.  so you could keep it original and just clean it up and such.. so for that purpose you could justify spending 1000-1500 if you really like it.

if your buying it to flip.. then gotta be below 750 IMO... and if your looking for one to restore, I'd pass on this one and find one in rougher shape.

Good luck!

I sold a nice original solid red V39 for $2,000 and really didn't have any trouble selling it, it was here for a week or two before it sold.

Everyone is AWESOME on this site... and the advise is very, very helpful.

Hope to keep.. but I have 2 now and we will see what the keeper of the wallet says.  I have to find a way to get it
because he says he will part it out if I do not... as it may be worth more in "parts."

To me.. that is just wrong.   I will figure it out and pass the rest of the story along... and we can all travel together on the
road of.. save that machine!

If he parts it out he's crazy!  Plus I don't think on a 39 that is accurate. Worth more in parts.

Shame to part out a survivor for sure!
However, Goose, the sum of the parts is almost always greater than the whole.

Well, I just can't let a working machine... in this condition... can't do it.. I just can't let him take it apart and sell the stuff.  I will figure it out and let you guys know the end story.

Even if you do have $1500 in parts, that's doesn't include time and effort to sell everything off individually. Thats assuming you sell everything and there are no fees involved. Long and short, keep that machine intact.

Done.  Gave 1400 for it.  He was definitely getting ready to part it out.. he had a list on the table of who wants what.  Ice Cold.  Guy is an engineer and the original cooling system is there.  It is nice... but I may not keep it.  4 machines are to many... but at least this is not a parts unit.

Thanks everyone for the help and advise.

$1400 is a good price. If you might sell, what are your other 3 machines?

I have 1964, model 64 early edition.  New/modern cooling system.  Full function.  We have it stocked and used it everyday for our water and a variety of soda/beer choice.  If you need a drink... you gotta use the machine.  Set up for 20 cents.. and we provide the coin.

2 modern can machines.  One in storage and the other for the pool area..off in the winter.

I agree, the 64 is a great user machine. Why don't you keep the 39 and sell off the 2 can machines?

We have talked about it... but the cans are "safer" by the pool!  drinking   I will do a bit of cleaning and then offer it around to someone who will use and enjoy it.  Truly.. this is just to nice to restore as it looks great as is.

Nice job Poptop! Clean machine!

I just picked up an early model v39 this week that was missing the drum and the coolant lines had been cut.

I'm parting it out, and just completely disassembled it today.

If anyone needs any v39 parts, PM or email me. Pics and prices available.
