Well I finally got a chance to play with the Westinghouse I picked up a few months ago... Machine wasn't cooling, so I started looking around and found a few broken pieces of glass stuck in the condenser fan... Now the machine gets ice cold . I'm having trouble with the vending though... I can't figure out how to release the gate to drop a selection. Coin mech is firing the coil on the left side, a gate moves and triggers a micro switch on the right side.. I put product into the slot, but its not turning.. I'm sure its probably dry and needs to be lubed a bit, but don't understand how it works yet. Anyone have a manual on this thing? I'm going to give it a good cleaning and wax job this afternoon.. Have a party in 2 weeks I'd like to have it ready and working for.. Here is a few pictures...

Jim... that would be great.. I'd appreciate it.
Thanks guys.. this is the first machine I brought home that my wife actually said its pretty cool. I spent the afternoon buffing and waxing the machine.. it looks great right now. I need to get the vend working.. Its going to be my summer patio machine.. It may end up indoors since it vends everything. I'd like a light up sign for it. May have to make one.

Jim - I'd appreciate a copy too. I don't own a 66 yet, but I'd like to one day and it would be nice to easily ID missing parts. Ken - Great looking machine! I'm thinking that the far right column HAS to have product in it as it is the one with the switch. I'm not at home now, but I seem to recall that my Westy 44 has to have product in one column for the other to vend. Different vintage and different machine, but possibly the same principle. Hope you can solve the puzzle before the party! I think Brian (seven181) had a light-up 66 - don't think he still owns it, but maybe he could shed light on the light-up panel assembly.

Nice machine! Good luck with getting it running, what a great porch machine! I found a really clean, nice 7up version of that machine with light up sign for $450 the other day. I'm guessing that's a bit high, but the machine looks good as new, and how many 7ups are out there!? I didn't buy it, too many other things I want!

That 7up is cool looking.. $450 is a bit high in this market, but it is sharp looking. I like this machine because it will vend anything from 6oz - 12oz glass or can. I don't remember exactly, but I think I paid $125 or so for mine.
Tom.. I'll try to put product in the right column. I was playing with the left. The timing has to be set on each column for the different size product. Luckily I still have the loading diagram which mentions how to adjust. I'll give the right column an adjustment and give it another try. The machine was set to run the small bottles. This could explain why there was a few broken bottles jamming the condenser fan.

Its a bit taller that the V63, Cav 64's... I guess its about 5' tall.. I'll measure it up tomorrow. I think its a bit narrower than my 63 as well. There is a tiny bit of info in the machine database..

The way I restore machine, probably not. I did give it a good compound and wax coat. The machine looks pretty shiny except for a few spots on the top. Down the road a bit that may get hit with a spray bomb.. The only other thing I may do to it at this point is try to get the bar off it with the flavor strips and do something with that.. I believe the bottom piece may be a stick on.. I'll probably get the coin entry decal as well. Something needs to be in the middle of the door.. its too empty.

I use to have two of these machines. Gave one to a guy who was really happy to give it a nice home in his new house. I was happy to see he enjoyed it. The vending mech is really simple. You need to have at least one can of pop in it. If not the long bar going across moves down and stops the machine from taking any money. So place one can. I face the open towards the back. Seems to me I have a instruction sheet on how to do bottles or cans and yes. It works great for either or. ANyway once you put on can in. YOu can lift up on the right hand level were the selonoid is attached. Then you can vent a soda. Now those metal turn dials are a **** to turn. Espcially if they need to be greased. I know I had to lube mine pretty good and another member tore his apart and greased it. Once they are greased or lubed. You should be able to trun the selector all the way to the right. Then let go. A soda should drop down. But as I said they are a ****. So normally I put the front back on the turn the plastic handles. The nice thing about this is the plastic handles don't berak if you turn them and there is no soda. THey just click and turn. So you put them back in place. I wouldn't recomend doing that all the time. Once lubed. They should turn pretty well to no problem at all. Also if the back racks are adjusted wrong. Since there is several adjustments. The selonoid can pull the level up and you still cannot vend a can. When I moved my machine. It got dropped a tad. Jarded everything inside. So I had to unscrew the inside rack and place it back. (Not remove) Then readjust the one or two black plates. I still have one role of cans that gum up once in a while. MFG around the same time as select a vend. Just not as desirable. Also I missed a RC version of one. Many, Many moons Ago. Also on the other side of the rad across from the vent selonid is the relay to tell the mech to take money.

Cool.. thanks.. I was guessing it needed to be lubricated, just didn't know where. I was trying with one can in the rack, and it did lift the bar up. I have the bottle loading sheet for the machine. It talks about adjusting the cam timing for the stack to match bottles or cans. as well as the depth. I did it for one column and it didn't make a difference. I'll get out the spray lithium and see what I can lube.

See I have that same paper but I never really had a problem vending cans or bottles. I just adjusted the depth of the back rack to fit the bottle. However, once in a while a cheap can from X soda company will get stuck. It seems that some cans are different in the amount of allllumminummmm they use.

Josh
