Spent some time with my nephew, who happens to be a salesperson for the Detroit Coca Cola distributor. Cool stuff to share: - Another release of vintage bottles this year, rolling out around Thanksgiving - 12 oz glass bottles - a new 'green' bottle, made with more bio- degradable ( ie organic) material. This idea has his customers a little worried, he wonders how the taste will be affected, and his customers wonder how the bottles will last in storage, if they are designed to breakdown. - Coke settled the lawsuit with the distributors who were importing Mexican Coke into the US. As part of the settlement, Coca Cola is taking over distribution. Yeah, it sounds like it will become a little easier to get hold of Mexican Coke, and I need to get back with him and order me a few cases.

Excellent news! I especially like the Mexican Coke news, as I'll only be down here on the Mexican border another year or so. I do like the sugar versus HFCS.
Can't wait to see the vintage bottles as well.
Thanks for the updates!

I found some mexi-cokes at Sam's this weekend. It's kind of strange. One Sam's here has the 8oz bottles, the other does not, but has the mexican ones. I bought a case, but at $19.45 I don't think I will be buying to many more!

I had a customer who worked for Coke. I asked him one day to "get me a hook up" on some bottles. A few weeks later he shows up at the back door with 50 cases of 8oz bottles. Those lasted quite a while. After they were gone I got about 15 more.
Then he bounced a 2500.00 check at my shop and I have not heard from or seen him since. Guess those cokes were not as good a hook up as a had thought.

Now that Coke has their fingers in the Mexican Coke, I'm guessing the price will double. I just found a store near me that sells a case for twenty bucks.

Larry, The Sam's club stores in the chicago area recently started carrying the Mexican coke, it's ~$18 for a case of 12 oz bottles.

I have not decided if I like the Mexican ones yet. I can tell a difference just don't know if it is good or bad. My wife asked me if there is bad mexican water in them. I told her I assume they filter the water. Anybody know?

Marvin, I was going to say it has to pass inspection by the FDA, but considering how many people were getting sick in previous years from imported food, well for that matter peanuts from the US, you got me wondering.
I would say Coke uses purified water in the bottling process, in any country.

I never got sick.
I would imagine that Coke would try to avoid any lawsuits. I would bet the water is fine. It just taste like Tequila!!

The water is safe. Coming from someone that has lived in a country that you can't drink the water. Think about it if you were to go on vacation in Mexico you can drink a soda without getting sick. Singapore has the cleanest water of any country in the world but Thailand was very different. They still bottle their soda's in Thailand and they are GREAT! That was one of the few good things about that place. They even have Green Spot, Bireleys, Coke, Pepsi, Mtn Dew, 7up and many more all in returnable bottles and all with cane sugar. You just have to watch going out to eat and them putting the soda on Ice as the ice is local water. I got so tired of being sick that I continuously made myself sick by drinking very small amounts at a time and with small amounts you don't get too sick. After about two or three weeks I didn't have to worry about it anymore as I grew immune. I still never drank the water but at least I could brush my teeth in the sink.
