Here are a few pictures of the popperette I picked up yesterday - It is still sitting in my kitchen after a healthy roadtrip yesterday.

I'm still pretty excited - so here is the long version of the story.... When I picked up the Pepsi Quikold Jr. a couple of years ago, I learned it came from the same geographical area that another had surfaced about 8 years ago. I took out a local ad there looking for Quikolds, coolers, machines, etc. and I had one reply. This was last October and the reply was that this guy didn't have a cooler but he had an old popcorn machine he wanted to get out of his garage - he wanted $150 for it. I let him know I was interested and he was going to get me pictures but never did. Well, this spring I got a hold of him again and sure enough he sent pic's of this machine and said he wanted rid of it and needed $40 for it - I about fell over. It was a pretty good road trip for me, but here it is... Complete machine - he had it working 5 years ago, but it would only get warm and not hot enought to pop the corn (heating element?) so I have a new project and I will be talking to a few of you soon... I'm one happy camper today.

Welcome to the Popperette club!! That has to be the best deal I have ever heard of for a Popperette. Take the small pan off (two thumb screws), that is located inside the machine. The pan either has a funnel or a flap and look to see if there is a heater there. I can't see how it can only get warm. It either works or it doesn't work. If you do try to engage this heater electrically DO NOT UNLESS IT IS SUBMERGED IN OIL!!!!!! preferably in that small pan. If the heater is good, not cracked, ohm the heater. If that's good, check the wires. Then ohm the switch. If all is well. The low oil mercury switch, fuse, or mechanically the screw that makes the switch could be missing or not pressing down the micro switch enough. Even a cracked heater can work as long as the wires are not touching each other. Oh by the way, I'll give you $50.00 for it. Let me know if you need any more help. P.M. me if you do. GREAT FIND!!!

Thanks to everyone for the comments - I now have new respect for 50 year old popcorn oil. I spent a day cleaning and sometime this week I will replace the oil and see if she fires up. A big thank you to Larry for his help and another to John for his.. Hopefully it doesn't need to many replacements, but if it does - I know who to call. Thanks again....Bob

You mean to tell me I could have gotten him to pay more than $40 for that old machine?!?!?! Oh well, at least it went to a good home! I think Bob needs to change the header on this thread to Deal of the Millennium! Bob--make sure to send the guy a bag of popcorn and a thank you note! Tim
