Some may recall the 75.00 Vendo 81 I found listed in a garage sale over a year ago. I missed it by about 15 minutes but got the name of the guy who bought it, was in contact with him and told him to write my name and number on the inside of machine if he ever wanted to sell it... We'll over a year has past and got an email yesterday asking if i still wanted it.. Duh!
In the meantime he did some research to find out what it was worth, Keep in mind he was looking for details on a nesbits Vendo 81, as that was what the sign on front was... little did he know what was underneath.. Needless to say, He made good money on his investment and I still ended up with a deal on a nice complete 81b to add to the collection.

While I was there , he also had this pretty cool console slot machine, It's from 1949, made by the Keely Slot company... It's pretty cool, needs some new veneer work, and glass is OK ,but flaking... but it ACTUALLY WORKS STILL!!.. put a nickel in and away it goes... I've ran it over 20 times now and haven't won the jackpot of nickels that are still in it ,but I'll keep on trying... I think it might be a keeper after i redo the veneers... and maybe look into getting some new glass decals made? well see..

So far it's been a GREAT 2009!!! and it's only January 7th!!!  biggrin

Wow! Excellent find, and it looks like it will be an easy restoration.

Thanks for sharing, your success is giving me hope that I will someday find an 81 in my area that I an afford.

Again, thanks for sharing.

Well done John - too bad it wasn't a 7UP or RC Cola logo underneath that sign
