Thats actually a converstion done in the late 1950s early 1960s. I forget who sold the converstion but it was done by the bottling company. If I ever found one close enough and complete I would probably buy it for the cool factor. I know where a Vendo 39 that this was done to but its missing everything in the inside.

I was almost going to write and ask for pics of the inside. I've seen  pics of the 39 conversion, never knew they  also did a convert kit for an 83.

Yep it was a conversion by Selectivend. They made another conversion for the V83 also. It made the small selection door clear plastic and added a knob to spin the drum inside. Once you saw the flavor you wanted you insert your money and remove your soda. I like the slant shelf conversion.

I had one pretty much just like that when I lived in an apartment 16 years ago.  It had the textured aluminum front like that. I traded it on the Vendo 63 I have now.  At the time I thought the 83 was too bulky and ugly.  Today, I would've kept it.
