I am new to this field, so forgive me if I sound ignorant. We recently acquired a 5 flavor ChoiceVend pepsi machine. All is fine except it will not dispense a beverage. Change passes thru the mechanism sometimes staying in the machine  and other times passing out the coin return. When it does fall into the collection bucket, it still will not dispense a can. Basically, nothing happens, it remains dead. The machine is full of cans and refrigerated. Harnesses & electrical appear to be fine. Is the problem in the Coinco mechanism? What can I do or check for? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like your coin acceptor (sometimes also called the slug rejector) is dirty, unhook the top two little catches in the upper corners & tilt the rejector assemble out at an angle & then lift it out of the coin mechanism, it is plastic, and can be put into the dishwasher (upper rack) & cleaned on hot with extra detergent in the pre wash cup, after it's dry, (if you have an air compressor you can carefully blow it out to speed things along) if not a hair dryer  does nicely too. do not put any oil, wd40, etc. on the rejector, the plastic is self lubricating, push down on the coin return lever & make sure the sweeper arm sweeps past the coin path completely & returns back to the up (out of the way) position you can see this fromthe back side of the rejector, now put it back into the coin mech. & give it a go, PS behind it, mounted to the circut board on the coin mech. itself you'll see some little switches, these set the price,(go back a few posts in this catagory) or  use the "Search" feature with "Price switches"
it will explain how to set the price from 5cents up,  depending on which model you have. hope it helps! I just sold a ChoiceVend 224-5 Pepsi here in the Detroit area & have extra motor/helix gears assy.'s & a tester built, also can show you how to set it up for vending up to 12oz glass bottles too if you please '<img'>  they're nice machines (but Heavy!!! mine weighed in at 650 lbs. ) ':p'

Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes.
Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon!
The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p
Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor
11 is louder than 10...
"Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

Thanks for the troubleshoot! The machine is at a new horse ranch about 20 miles from here. Next visit, I'll try it and repost on the results. Thanks again, these people are on a tight budget and I'd like to get it going for them as a favor. I remember that machine as a kid. They were everywhere!
