gumball machine

hello everyone,

this gumball machine is on ebay here in england,

i have been looking for a northwestern49 on x5cents for ages

but not got one yet although dave managed to get two in
the last x6 months!

anyway, seller says that it has plastic not glass globe so not
that keen on that and that the chute flap not present which
i am asuming would be fairly easy to replace?

but been on ebay.com and it mentions repro victors too so
is this an original or a low cost later production with plastic
and not glass sides, or something altogether cheap and tacky?

now try and keep any funny comments in your replys down to
the minimum as cracked a couple of ribs falling off a ladder x10
days ago....................................... and still hurts real bad

will post pix as cannot link....still

also any idea on value roughly, $25 $50 on your side?

What you have there is Victor Topper Half Cabinet. Yes, the chute cover is fairly easy to come by. There is a fella on Ebay that has been auctioning off NOS chute covers for over a year now for a starting price of $9.99 and they normally don't go for more than $20.

That machine looks to be 100% original. I personally haven't ran across any reproductions of this or any other Victor machine. The most commonly reproduced machines are the Carousel and the Columbia Model "C". The Carousel is modeled after the Advance brand machines and the Columbia is a modern plastic reproduction of the original porcelain-fired metal original.

I probably give no more than $35-$40.

your machine looks neat, and thx for the info on price guide

he says the machine was x1 cent but our UK current x5 pence
coin works thru the mech which is good i know our x20p works
thru daves x5 cent northwestern too so we are fairly lucky
that these old mechs are not too picky on other foriegn coins.

did they do this model with a glass globe? im wondering whether
later on could replace the half clear half solid plastic with a glass
option?

not happy,

missed auction end and it sold for $11!

train was late and missed it by 30 mins.

gutted...........................................

so unless this is telling me my northwestern
49 is coming along very soon....................

Sorry to hear about that. You'll find another, or like you said, maybe that NW 49 is on it's way!

As far as the half cabinet goes, Victor never made a glass version of it, only plastic.
