Hello All
I think I found a decent deal...  Some folks were moving and needed to sell this, and I was the first one there.  I paid 500.00 for it and I saw the receipt where she paid 1,000 for it 7 years ago.  It has been completely restored and runs and cools great!  It is now in the living room, next to my coke coolers.. and gulf gas pump! Shocked)

Does it make it any more collectible to be a Deluxe model?

Nice deluxe for $500 , restored. yeah you did well on that one.. It's deluxe because of the emobossed logo... to me that is the only way to go on one of those machines.
Congrats!

Not an expert by any means... but, I think you got a great deal.

I sold a working, but unfinished, deluxe for $650 in Dec 2005. At the time I was told by the person buying it (a member on this board) that it was a steal.  He knew I bought it for $500 and gave me a $150 for turning it around to him. Can't remember exact amounts but he had been seeing prices > $1000 for unfinished machines.

Actually, I believe that Vendo offered the V-23 with choices for the customer. Deluxe or Standard cabinet and either a Deluxe or Standard top. The tops had different bottle door knobs, different coin mechs (Standard mech had two gears; Deluxe had three gears) and different locks (the Deluxe top had a little lift handle next to the lock; Standard had just a lock). The Deluxe cabinet (both had the embossed sign) had chrome bezels and a chrome storage door handle and 'ICE COLD' embossed at the bottom.

This is all according to my original V-23 (Model A23A5 & A23B5) S&P manual. I have also seen some other models that don't have the star handle. On that model, I think you put your money in and physically rotated the top to the next drink. I really can't think of another machine that has so many variations.

What you have is a Deluxe cabinet and a Standard top. Not much value difference that I have seen.

I have a Standard cabinet and a Deluxe top model

Thanks so much for the info!  I really appreciate all of the help that this website offers!
What would you guys recommend to use as touch up paint?  There are a few scratches here and there..

Thanks again
Mike
