Cavalier CS-64/E fresh paint

Allright! I 'm able to get back in to the posting area! ( Thanks Jim) Just a quick post on a Cavalier 64 I'm in the process of reassembling ( proof that I do work on Cavaliers & occasionally a few "Coke" machines!      ). I had to modify a later model CSS64D lightup sign & frame to adapt to this earlier chassis ( it was missing ) with an inset (innie vs outtie?) maindoor, had to give the frame a 1/2" chop in height to fit the lightup opening. (Another thing to admire in Vendos parts compatability between all of the V63/V90 models)

But, all in all, this is probably one of my favorite Cavalier models, as the nice chrome coin entry bezel really adds some snap & dimension to the front door. plus I have two doner machines ( both 64D's) to help out with missing trim & such. so now on to the final install of the doors insulation, wire harness,& liner & bottle portal trim. The compressor deck is waiting in the wings to be slid back into place, as is the bottle rack & shelves.

Just a few update photo's as the work of reassembly continues, so now the compressors' back home in it's spot, & as you can see, the wiring harness is slowly migrating back into place.

If you're curious about the aluminum strips you see along the edges of the plastic door liner, these are to help retain & reinforce the edge of the liner (original to the machine) as the holes for the screws (as on most old original liners) are cracked/broken out from over-tightening of the liner retaining screws. these strips will be concealed by the door gasket once it's in place, for now they are just holding the liner in place.

I have three parts machines, but they are all 64-C models ( they have the external/flush mounted front door, as opposed to the 64E having an inset/recessed front door) & the C & D model liners are 1st too wide & 2nd they have the type of door latch that passes through the liner, while an 64E has a side mounted latch (similar to a Vendo V63).

Thanks! This machine has been both fun & frustrating at the same time. Here are the final photos of the finished machine, if you wonder about the cardboard between the shelves, it's to hold them in place while I transfer it to the Fowlerville,Michigan Gasoline collectables & antique farm tractor show, ( hopefully to find it a new home) along with an all original Pepsi VF56P that I finally located a new Plastic (3-D) Pepsi-Cap medalion for it.

Pat Pixley & myself will be inside the Fowlerville fairgrounds building not too far from "the Big Cheese" a local Petrollia collector with an outstatnding collection & a Pole barn ( make that a BIG toy shop  ) to die for!

Looks good. Why didn't you put any graphics on the side of the machine? I always had a white piece of vinyl cut. It is easy cheep and really sets off the machine.

I'm waiting on a set that's part of back order from my graphics guy who unfortunatly is having severe famliy issues in regards to his moms health, so for now, it goes without, I can wait, & if it sells I'll just forward them along to the new owner.

Yes, sorry it was today, May 18th.       but they also have a fall showing in October as well , but on the bright side if you are interested, it didn't sell, ( had a lot of 'Kickers* though) But the VMC Pepsi machine sold, as did Pat's Hunters Glasco ice chest.  We has a great time, & meet a bunch of nice Petrolium nuts too!  I think I'll be going next year too, & maybe this fall depending on the weather outlook,( it tend's to be a bit wet & colder that time of year here in the great-lake states)

Dooh! also a good Idea!        we ( Pat & I ) certainly made lots of contacts & passed out a bunch of business cards, tons more interest in the machine & the (related) hobby of soda machines & gas pumps and such, I saw a few sliders on the fairgrouns mixed in with the pumps, quite a nice lot of soda realated signage & Pat even scored a nice Coke button about 30" diameter. someone got to a nice Ideal 55 embossed 7up slider that was stickered over with pepsi decals, no rack, but it ran & went for $100,

Pat though, hey wouldn't be great to get some of us guys & gals together for a simular hobby/swap or maybe combine it with the Fowlerville show?

I know Pat went to the pre- show BBQ at the "Big Cheese's home the day before. & saw some other soda stuff pass hands.

Not interested in the machine; but, it would have been fun to stop out and meet a few of the guys from the forum.  Maybe next time!  I am between Brighton and Pinckney so Fowlerville is in the neighborhood.

Sorry been trying to get cought up in the garage , Yes John is dead on we had a great time
met some great people and handed out alot of cards and sold some machines and bought
a big Coca Cola button (photo's  tomorrow)

   There were people from AZ , NM ,NY,WI, FL, OH, PA, IN & Canada  that came to this
show, I'm going to tell you I  was in AW  these guy were a great bunch.
I watched this Group of Gas guy and they all got along and having laughs and telling stores
and meeting each other for the first time, It was really cool.


 This made me think  we should be doing this , a BBQ at some one's home on a Friday or Saturday and the swap meet and show the next day (Saturday or Sunday) I Really think that this would bring this group a whole lot closer.
Just my thoughts and I have more on this also

and it would not surprise me if he did not sell it to someone he met today.

        Good work John and Pat!
        So yesterday was fun every where I guess! Garry and I took some stuff to
the flea market that comes to town once every 3 months.
        I filled and capped 3 cases of small Coke bottles and kept them covered with ice.
It was 90 degrees here on the coast.
        I would fill the unrestored 33 with 6 to 10 cold bottles at a time. Then if someone
was looking at the machines as a potential buyer, I would drop in a dime and vend them
out a cold pop.
       What fun they had, hear the bottle drop through the chute, feel the cold glass,
then share a swig of cold soda with the wife or kids and return the empty bottle to a
bottle rack. Passed out almost 100 buisness cards and made some great contacts,
comming home with only 4 full bottles and all but 1 of the empties.

Hey, at least they "paid" for it! the machines' coinmech was set for 10-cents & sure enough, there was a dime in the cashbox!      hope they enjoyed it!
