I found this on Craigs list. Not avertised very well and I was uncertain if I even wanted to mess with it. The thing works great! missing a few small things on the rear exterior, but the belt and coin mech are both complete and functioning as they should. Cools like a champ.  Weird thing is that it is not embossed. I took the cheap ole pepsi sign off and the surface is just as flat as can be.

I looked over past post concerning C-51's on this site and I believe I did OK. Please help me out and tell me what you think the value is in it's current condition and restored.

I also would like to buy a Coca Cola embossed door if someone out there has one.

Thanks

It should be embossed under the sign.

That's what I thought. I pulled the sign and it is a flat as can be. I haven't taken the door apart yet to check for weld marks.

Then the letters must have been ground off and filled in!
This must be your chance to make it into a fantasy machine rather than the
common Coca Cola version

I don't know. I would rather find a good embossed door and do it up correctly. Mainly due to the embossed ICE COLD at the bottom.

You seem fairly knowledgable. I paid $500 for it. Did I do ok with the purchase, even though the door isn't correct?

I've NEVER seen a generic C-51.
$500 is at the high end IMO

A working C51  that is unrestored your at the top of the pricing for one so I think your
alright smile.
I bought mine 5 years back and mine does not get cold and I paid $350 but I'm the second owner  of it the first was the local fire dept. so I got a little history with it to boot.
