Those Who Stay Will be Champions!

« on: April 02, 2008, 10:55:31 pm »

I thought Signguy had a great idea so I figured I would get it going!

This is a sign that I found when we were going through the back-room of my Dad's drugstore just before we sold the store in 1978.  I wish I had some pictures of the soda fountain to share as well because it still looked great even though it had been shut down in the early 60's.  I recently found this at my Mom's house when I was looking through some of my stuff that was left in her basement.

Anyway, this is a sign that used to hang in the store at one time--I'm guessing 50's based on the boats and the clothes--maybe earlier?  If anyone can help me date it and put a value on it I would appreciate it.  It is not for sale though--this will hang proudly in my bar/rec-room basement above my Vendo V-39 when it is restored! biggrin

Sure wish my Dad was still around to see it. down

Great sign, Dates to more around the 60's , I'd say early 60's.
Mainly can tell due to the better Photo like imagery and the tubular frame... The 40's and 50s signs had very art deco wood frames, and the images where more "painted" looking.
Thanks for sharing and starting out the thread.

Here's my "find of the week".  Cool I found it back in the early 1990's. Measures a whopping 34" by 57". This is known as a "privilege (sp?) panel sign" which is for the grocers to put the name of their store in the blank panel on the top of the sign.
