Hi
I have a coin mech in my vendorlator vf56b-b, unknown make on the coin mech itself. For now I have by-passed the mech using instructions found in this forum (thanks). So it now vends with the by-pass.
When hooked up the coin mech just made clicking sounds-always ran. The 2 metal parts at bottom in photo 2 move back and forth. When change is inserted, it just goes to the coin return. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Rod

Rod,

What about the switch to activate the change release; does this operate correctly or does the position of this switch make no difference...?  Meaning, the change from the tubes are still ejected regardless of the switch position, up or down.

I do not know what model the machine is.It is a electrical mech, and the coins just fall thru to the change return. This is a square top machine with the bottle window on the left side. I found the folling numbers on the out side, VFII7B-H   and  serial # 20550B62M   It has 13 slots for drinks. The model # for the coin mech is as follows A90400-307  and serial # 333972  It was a 15 cent machine this is about all the information I have on it. I hope you can help me.

Thanks again.

For the better of everyone, I have posted the Private Message(PM) sent to me regarding this problem...

Keith,
Did you attempt to check the slide switch at the bottom of the mech to see if it changes anything...?
It also appears that the electromagnetic coils (5cent & 10/25cent coils) are not getting energized...  Do all coins, nickels, dimes and quarters get returned when the mech is plugged into the machine?

Hi Jim

To show you how much of a novice I am, I thought that switch was a power switch for the coin mech '<img'>

With the tubes emply, it occurs with the switch in the up position. In the down position it does nothing.

I put some dimes and nickels in the tubes and tried again. Now it vibrates like something is jammed somewhere. Nothing visible though.

I found the make and model of the coin mech: vendo model 97A-A2450A.

Are you dropping the coins through the slug rejector or directly into the coin mech? Can't tell for sure but looks like the slug rejector is missing the weighted wires.

I was dropping the coins right into the top of the coin mech.

Which part is the coin rejector..I'll take a closer look at it.

Thanks

Not to step on Creighton's toes, but if the nickel tubes don't have any or enough coins in them to activate the "no change" switches or better known as electromagnetic coils, only nickels may be allowed to create a vend cycle.
If the mech is set to 15 cents and you drop a quarter in, the mech thinks there's no change(if the nickel tubes are empty) to give back to the customer, so it will kick the quarter back out...
I'm not sure about the dimes because you haven't told us if all coins are returned or just one type...?
Lastly, I don't want to make fun of anyone's intelligence, but you are testing this with the unit plugged into the machine after removing the green wires for free-play...

Hi Jim

Yes I removed the wires (free play) and plugged the coin mech back in.  '<img'>

According to the lable on the machine front it says .50, so I tried dropping quarters in.

You guys are being a great help..thanks again.

If you use an ordinary 2-wire extension cord you can bench test this mech easily, BUT be careful!!! many terminals & connectors on the mech & jones plug will have 115 volts on them    ':O'   don't say I didn't warn you  ':<img:'>  so now you can test it out of the machine to get a better Idea whats going on with it, from the sounds of it, the nickle tubes aren't telling the Coin Reject ElectroMagnets (C.R.E.M.'s) that the mech "has change" available (as Jim mentioned) they will "buzzz" or vibrate sometimes when "On" & reject all coins except Nickles, which should be "directed" to the nickle-tubes. There's a little switch at the rear & bottom of the tubes that sense when they have enough nickles to give change, if not then they activate the " C.R.E.M's " & give power to the "correct change only" light (pins 5 & 6 I believe on this mech.) hope it helps!...JohnieG

Hi Jim

Thanks..I'm going to check it out . I pulled the coin mech and brought it inside to get a better look at it. While out at the machine I saw a jumper wire behind the female connector mounted to the machine. I was able to take a real good look and found 2 jumper wires. They were connected between
8 & 5, and 1 & 2. Are they supposed to be there? It also says "quarters only".
