'Sleepwalk' had an 81C model up for auction a year or so ago - wanted an extreme amount for it and don't think it sold. Nice pics and clearly said 81C on the plate

That sounds like something Sleepwalk would do. It was probably a restored 81B pained red with a new Vendo Plate stamped with a C

It was a unrestored machine that was later repainted with the two tone paint, no stainless trim, Indeed a real C model his price was around $5,500.00

For me, the "holy grail" would be a cheesed-off wife (not mine) wanting to sell her soon to be ex-husband's Smithsonian-level machine collection to me for $1 just to get even. hopefull

Well, I'd take a nice all-red 81A or 110 that I could afford.
