Cleaning up a little and getting rid of a few things - few more to add, but here are a couple.

First is a Stoner Candy machine nickel/dime coin mech - unrestored

Next is a VMC27/33 coin mechanism with nickel rejector - unrestored

I am also putting up a couple of Wurlitzer or Rock-Ola prewar triple slug rejectors and some other stuff maybe.

I figured the Stoner mech would stir up some activity. I had a 1-year-old hanging on my keyboard yesterday when I made the first post. I meant to add 'eBay on Sunday' somewhere, but it didn't make the baby-rush cut.
I really feel in a bind now with all you guys wanting it.

I looked and could not find it.
Jim - did you get rid of the SMC Auctions?
I would auction it off there as the serial number is 58SMC23693

I have no idea what the mechs would go for in the open market - you just don't see them.
I hate picking between friends, so I'll probably put it up on eBay Sunday with no BIN and NR and $9.99 opening bid - I'll post the link here

Leonard -
You are not going to believe this, but about 3 years ago (12/21/04), I won an eBay auction for five(5) complete Stoner mechs for the grand total of $4.99 plus S&H. The seller didn't know what they were and had them listed funny with poor pics, but I did! I think I paid total about $4.00 each for them.
Sold 3 of them in 2005 for about $75-$100 each, but eBay had these new features and I was playing around with them prior to listing them. I went to visit my mother in Dallas when the auction was running and all of a sudden, I had all these pre-approvals I needed to do on the bidders. What a pain-in-the-@*$ on my mother's dial-up computer? Needless to say I had some PO'd bidders at the end because they didn't know the pre-approval thing and I couldn't remove it after the auction began. So I really don't know what they would have sold for without the pre-approval thing.

So this is one of the two I have left - the other is a nickel only mech, which I believe goes with the Stoner Jr. - not planning on selling it yet!

Yep, I was one of them.  The nickle mech is the one that I would be interested in.  Let me know when you put it up on Ebay and I'll either buy it for my machine or my friends.  Thanks.

Sorry about that Larry!
I got 3 nickel/dime mechs and 2 nickel mechs in the '04 deal - I have just 1 nickel/dime and 1 nickel mech left. My 180 has it's mech, so I decided to sell my spare.
Don't know when I'll sell the nickel mech - kind of want to hold onto it in case I ever find the elusive  Stoner Jr. with gum wheel and its' mech is missing - then I'll get rid of the 180.

I just looked back through my email messages and I guess I only had two Stoner mechs listed on eBay in early 2005, then since you were so upset about the way the pre-approval thing went - I ended up selling you the third after I got home. It was a pretty hazy time - my mother passed away about a month later in early Feb 2005.
I recently sold you a nickel rejector for your Stoner - didn't I? Does it not work in your mech?
How many Stoners do you own?... or do you just like to have a spare mech - like me!?

I have two Stoner Jrs.  One has the 5 c and 10 c mech., which is complete, and the other has a 5 c mech that had a dime rejector in it instead of the nickel rejector.

Yes, I did buy the nickel rejector from you.  It was the one that deposited the coin from the left instead of the right.  I haven't tried that rejector in the mech yet.  All my machines, shelves, and games are in a big pile down in my basement.  I am remodling my backporch, kitchen, and basement at the same time.  So things are piled up everywhere.

I was going to get the 5c mech because it would be complete and therefore it should work.  I figured if you sold the whole mech and if my nickel rejector fixed my machine, I would let my friend get the whole mech because his machine is missing the whole mech.  I am assuming that it is a nickel machine because it is the shorter Stoner body from the early forties.

My short body is a nickel while my tall body, with  the "Fresh Candy" embosement, is a 5/10 machine.

I don't remember getting a mech from you a few years ago, but I do have a spare mech. that I bought from Ebay that didn't work.  I seriously doubt that it came from you.  Your stuff works.

Maybe I'm wrong - we exchanged quite a few emails back then and I was at home for a total of about 2 weeks in a six week period with my mother's failing condition and funeral.

Here are a couple of pics of my nickel Stoner if this helps:

I went downstairs and made a path to the Stoners.  I tried your 5c rejector and it worked fine.  So I wont need the Stoner mech. blush

I went to look at the one mech that I bought, that doesn't work, and remembered why it does not work.  A few years ago I was taking apart the rejector and a looped piece of #12 copper wire fell out.   darn After that, I couldn't get it to work.  I don't know where the wire goes.  I am assuming that someone placed it in the rejector to give the coins a path.  I haven't got a clue.

While I was downstairs, I noticed that my older Stoner and my newer Stoner had two different styles of coin mechs.  The 5 c one has a metal piece on the side that is attached to spring steel.  If the assembly is out, the machine is set to free vend.  When the mech is put back in the side of the machine depresses the steel engaging the coin mech.

The 5/10c machine has a piece of spring steel in front.  If it is pulled out the machine vends for free, but once the door is closed, the coin mech is engauged.  These must have been used to test the machines in the field.

How many styles did Stoner make??

I'll defer to Curtis on that!
Not sure when they started/stopped producing candy machines, but I know of about 5-6 different kinds in the 40's-50's

I just checked my bad mech and the rejector didn't have any numbers on it like yours did.  It must have been from someone else.  The key would be if you put a copper wire in the mech.  That's what mine has.  It worked until the wire fell out. laugh

Can you post a pic or email it to me - I'll try to help you fix it!
The only modification I have ever seen using a piece of wire was to pinch it in the nickel or dime path therefore preventing the rejector from accepting that denomination coin - easily reversed too.

OK Eric and Leonard!
It looks like I solved Larry's mech issue, sooo...it's between you two!
Call me superstitious, but with "SMC" in the serial number, I'll offer it to you two SMC members first at what I think would be a reasonable BIN price - flat $75 (S&H included).
Early bird gets the worm here! First one to respond with a yes - gets it!
Otherwise, it will start on eBay tomorrow evening with no BIN and a $9.99 opening NR bid and you can take your chances there with Larry and his friend, etc.
Keep in mind that this Stoner nickel/dime mech is untested - I don't know much about them - don't have a Stoner manual or mech schematic and never broke one down to see what makes them tick.

It looks like Terry posted that he has one also while I was typing, so one can get mine if you want and the other get with Terry!

Tom,

I'll take it!  Just kidding.

I check the computer in between my drywall sanding breaks.

I appreciate the offer with the rejector.  I will send some pictures when I get a chance.  I will send them to your regular email through SMC.

Thanks again,

1.Since my machine did not have a Mech How do I know which One I need /

2. On the Frunt below the coin slot theres a tag that says USE 2 Nickles or a Dime for 10cent Purchase   Or 3 Nickles or 1 nickle 1 dime for 15 cent Purchase

I quess that means a 15 cent Mech correct >

That I don't know Leonard!
I have another mech not pictured in this thread which has a nickel and dime tube attached to top of the mech - I always thought it was for a later model as it has a LD type rejector in it accepting nickels, dimes & quarters. Your decal says nothing about quarters - does it?
This one that I am selling is very (almost exact) similar to the one in my 180. I have only owned 1 Stoner (the 180) and I have messed with it very little. Just the other day was the first I figured out how to remove the mech. I will have to buy one of Curtis's manuals someday unless an original pops up.
I will list it with NR reserve and post the link here and will post a pic of my other mech also.
I suggest you contact Curtis and ask him as he would know better than I.
Sorry I can't be of more help - I am just not that familiar with them.

Well.... it doesn't fit... the bottom of the entire mech doesn't line up I have 2 little pins
that stand and the back one doesn't hit the opening.... so the 2 rods  don't hit the slots
in the front.. I have the older 180 so maybe this would fit yours... same price as I paid.
If you don't want it - Curtis do you have one that I could traid for?
Thanks though Tom....
