Thanks all, I am still feeling geeked over my find.
and Jim,the seller was awesome. we hit it off over the phone, maybe because we're both named Jim.
He even pulled the ad from Craigslist when I said I could be over after work, and replied back to the other offers that the clock may have been sold. Sure a far cry from losing out on Ebay when the seller ends the auction early because they sold it off line.
We got to talking about jukeboxes, phone booths and pay phones, and then asked if i liked "old cars". When Ireminded him I lived outside of the motor City, and missed out on being driving age during the Muscle car era, he brightened up and showed me his man cave.
A two story, three car garage with his projects - a completed 1961 Chevy Impala , and a 1963 Impala he is working on to enter in the Detroit Autorama show. Both with original 409's, i wish I had a camera.
He's also working on restoring an Eco Islander, the parts came back from blasted just the other day, and a Tolkheim pump picked up in an estate sale. The stories on how he came about all of these, as well as a phone booth for his payphone were a hoot. I left with an offer to get together for coffee, and he asked if he could call if he runs across anything cool I may be interested in. Of course I said yes.
So not only did i come across a Double dot clock, I met someone today who was true to his word, not out to grab every dollar he could, and had the some appreciation of "cool stuff" as I, and i imagine a lot of us here.
Bubba - I paid $200. Not sure if I overpaid. The second hand has a few specks missing in the red (I'm going to leave it be) and if I need a new motor and covers, I am guessing that will be $75-80. the chrome is clean and shiny, so until I get around to getting ot to tell time, it will look good on the wall.
