Any advice on the best way to get the springs off the hinges so I can get the hinges painted?

Thanks,

Take a Pin of equal size and drive the other pins out. You will see the springs fall out.
Good Luck with this.  Oh one more thing when you put them back on its even harder to do but it can be done.

It is hard to put them back together but I take apart a bic pen to use to wind the spring when putting it back together. it works really well and helps not to scratch the hinge.

I wouldn't take them off, I've had luck with just prying the open and with a small peice of wire or finish nail you can get them to hold open. then wrap the spring with some good quality duct tape as not to cover any of the area you are to paint... Sandblast clean, prep and paint, after dry remove the duct tape, and you can buff the springs clean.. .no need to remove and reassemble and rewind... I'll see if I can get a picture of what i mean and post in tips.
