Hi everyone!

I am not sure if you remember me or not, but I posted last month about wanting to buy a coke machine for my husband for Christmas.  Well, long story short, you all advised me on what to look for and even on one to buy off of eBay.  I am happy to report that I am now the proud owner of a Vendo 63 ( I think that is what it is, right?).

It does need a little soap and water and I hope to get to do that before Christmas.  You all also said I could clean it up with wax... umm... what kind of wax?  Car wax?

It also needs a new lock - any ideas on where I get that?Huh?

Someone posted before after looking at this on eBay for me that "it is also missing the coin mechanism but that you all can walk me through the steps to wire a free vend switch (easy)."  I guess it would be best to just get my husband to contact you all after he receives it to get advice on that one??

I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of your help through this!!  He is going to be so excited!!!

Thanks again!

-Cindy

Hi Cindy,
Great looking machine!! Yes it's a Vendo 63. Car wax will work great just not the cheap stuff. First you will want to clean it well with hot water and a light soulution of "car wash in a bottle". Rinse well. This will get rid of all the dirt and a grime. If the paint is still not shinny then lightly use "polishing compound" to get the oxidized paint off. Another hot water rinse and buff with a soft cotton cloth. Now you are ready for the car wax. That machine should shine like new. Big red bow and you are all set.

Will need a picture or two of the coin area too sort out the best way to set it for free-vend.
Funtronics a supporting vender on this site will have the lock.
Your husband will be thrilled. Just post any questions and we all will help best we can.

There can be a minor problem develop of where one machine is not enough :-)

BTW, Linda reading over my shoulder has just informed me I'm getting socks for Christmas.

Great to hear, that you found the machine.. He will be very happy.. but as Creighton stated earlier... DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU'VE DONE!!!

We ALL started out with just one machine, and now 95% of us Cant' stop... and have garages, barns, cargo freight haulers, basements and Gamerooms FULL of Coin Operated devices, vending mechanisms and Games!

Don't say we didn't warn you!, Pop machines are addicting!!!
 biggrin
What a great present.... I can only hope my Wife has a Victor Cooler Grill under the tree for me this year!!! biggrin

Good job Cindy. Let's fix it before Christmas.  Rather than setting it on
freeplay, you still have time to order in a Coinco coin mech for it at about $40.
or maybe someone here can loan you one for a week or so until you find one.

It will be so much more fun Christmas day to give him a working machine.

Glen's Right a work machine is the key , and someone here may have a extra Coinco
Coin mech for a fair price for you.
A big Rid & White Bow and some Coca Cola load up in it  and you are golden for
a year .

wow - you all are the best!  I would really like to get it set up right before Christmas if possible, but if not, I know my husband will still be in love with it no matter what... so if it doesn't work out -  no biggie.  I was at Sam's Club today and saw the small cokes in PLASTIC bottles, but not the ones in the glass bottles.  I have to get my hands on some of those.  I think I have seen them in our local grocery stores or in Wal-Mart, but I am not sure... any other suggestions???

THANKS again!!!

Wal-Mart does carry the 8 ounce bottles.  They typically sell them in a 6-pack.  Basically, anything through a normal 16-ounce bottle will work.  The 20-ounce bottles and some specialty 16-ounce bottles (Gatorade, for example) are too fat.  I stock mine with flavored water.  You can get these in 12 and 16-ounce sizes.  The kids love it.  Beer also works.   Cool A 12-ounce bottle will fit in there quite nicely.  The shelves in your (his) machine adjust back and forth to accomodate the different size bottles.

Merry Christmas!
