The Holy Grail of Machines

 Ok Kilroy and I were talking about this ,If you owned the Holy grail of machines
 and we both said the Victor Kooler Grill   and you were having the  Xmas party at
your home this year  .   (A) would you use it  grill and cooler and stand behind it all night make sure no one  was going to mess around with it.  OR (B)  Put in the family room
just to show it off & with it roped off .  OR (C) Move it to the garage till the party was over
because you know the office drunk is showing up this time (and He live next door to you so you know he is coming this year)

 So Those are your choices  and there are no other.
Please let see what you would do.

I'd use it.... We are a “dry” family so I wouldn't have to worry about a guy
party'n till he... well... got sick.
Gotta show it off... After all we're just curators of these pieces of history till
it's time to pass them on... So we need to show how they were used.

I still can't up with an answer, and Pat And I started this discussion off line.

I cringe watching the Jackson-Barret Car Auctions, a 57 Bel Air Rag top is meant to be driven with the top down, and The Beach Boys playing on the radio. But I know the  guys <who never blink when the price starts climbing  100 grand plus>  will never  take it out on a Sunday afternoon or jump in it  because the wife needs something from the store; instead it  will  prolly sit in a warehouse  or a hospital clean garage, admired, but never driven, enjoyed as a trophy but not used for what it was meant to be.

I think I would use it, not sure if my friends and family would understand or care  about it's history or rareness, and wonder why I had a Coney Island setup  (hot dog stand for you non Michigan readers) in the  game room, but part of me would always have one eye open when any one neared it.

I see where your point, but at the same time my counter would be...   What you have can't be replaced by going to the dealer and buying a new one.  Where do you draw the line.
I am getting ready to have a primo restored Pepsi 81 done.  What do I do with it?  I have a 4 year old who loves to get drinks from my VMC 33.  I also have an 11 month old.  There is not a place I can enjoy it and not worry about one of the kids accidently hurting it.  I want to be able to enjoy it but how can I if I am constantly worried about it getting hurt?

I would use it,  that why we have these toys to enjoy them and like Eric said pass them on to someone that will treasure them as we have....

We use our Kooler Grill during get togethers and have never had a problem with people abusing it.  Especially after I tell them the story behind it.

I was going to say the Kooler Grill will probably hurt the office drunk more than he would hurt the grill...
Unless of course he got behind the wheel of something!

I moved my 81A from the back porch into the new gameroom, so far it has gotten more use from my 1 1/2 year old than anybody else. He loves to crank the handle and open the bottle door...good fun!

I would have to find one for pennies on the dollar - I will not spend $25,000 or more on anything except a car or house.
If I got one for that price, you bet I would use it. I would probably use it like the guy that posted on here a while back. Rent it out (with me at the helm), take it to festivals, use it to make money!

Well I have a 57 Chevy rag top and drive it to work, to the drive inns with the kids, and everywhere in between.

Also have a Pepsi 81 that is on the back porch.

 So I say if you got use it and if you don't use like then sell it

I would have to say....USE IT! I got posed a similar question about the "usability" of a coin op pocorn machine,a Popperette, with zero use on it. Brand spanking new, NOS, never been used. Would I use it or not? I thought about it long and hard and came to the decision that I probably would.

I agree about seeing cars at car shows that have probably been only driven about 100 feet all year.  On the trailer, off the trailer.  On the trailer, off the trailer....

I agree with an earlier post... USE IT... I'd take it to car shows, collector shows, etc... rent it out to other people who would appreciate using it...  I use my 59 Vette almost daily, I use my Machines on the backporch and in the basement bar room... but of course I'd have a little placard near or on it telling the story... people would respect it... just like they respect classic cars or antiques when out strolling at a show, etc.

Now just gotta find one!

  Use the equipment as is was meant to be uused, and enjoy it. If someone over-steps the boundaries with innapropriate actions, let them know.
  I once told two of my ex-wifes employees that if they though it was so funny tilting my pinballs then I would gladly take them outside and really show them what it's like to be tilted.
They were perfect gentleman the rest of the evening.
