Like many of you, I have a family and young kids so I have to plan way ahead! I got the go ahead from the wife last nite on Chicago so obviously I wanted to check to see who can I hang out with!!! We've talked about this for a while and said we'd shoot for the fall show in 2007, so here it is... I haven't checked on rooms and such yet so not even sure what's available. SHow is November 9-11th, but if you wanna find anything you gotta be there Thursday night as dealers show up and then start unpacking on Friday morning at sun-up. I am thinking of going Thursday night and most likely leaving on Friday nite or Saturday Morning, depending on who's going and when and what kind of trouble we get into!! SO... thoughts, who's going etc.... http://www.chicagolandshow.com/

I have a duck hunt planned for the following weekend and, hopefully a whitetail deer hunt in Texas sometime this winter, so those will be using up my hall passes.

Possibly will be going. It is all going to depend on how the "play money" looks as it gets closer. Right now I will say yes, but that may change at any given moment.

Jim, Normally archery season is usually much earlier. Rifle deer season opens early Nov. in Texas. I would think VA would be same or earlier than TX.

Tom,
The area(s) I hunt in VA doesn't open general gun until around the second week in Nov.. I'll archery hunt during muzzle load season but have some reservations during general gun season... I'm an archery only hunter, at least right now... Perhaps, one day when I can't pull my bow, it'll be time to switch to something easier, a rifle...

We'll it sounds as if the SMC meeting/gathering we where talking about last year is Fizzling out pretty quick! Oh well, obviously we all have busy lives.. For those who are thinking of going, I've checked some hotel rates in the area and Pheasant run and others arond it around around 110-150 a night... HOWEVER, the SUper 8 just 2 miles down the road from the show is $69.99 a nite for a single bed...I booked two nights and will decide how long to stay depending on who's going... Eric... you still planning on making the trip... I know you've been talking about it...

Hey Everyone! Been away for a few weeks, back in Michigan. My Mom passed away and had to go out there to be with my Dad. As of now, I am going to the Chicago show. I will be taking some machines and selling them off. I belive, I am getting out of the soda stuff for awhile. Been thinking about it and have lost my interest for some reason? I might start letting go of the prize 7UP collection sometime soon. Would be nice to meet some of you guys.

Sorry to hear that - I lost my mother a couple of years back. Keep in close touch with your Dad - he will miss the companionship.
Sorry to hear about the soda machines also - not too good of a market right now. Going forward, maybe you could act like a "birddog" for the site - finding machines for everyone. I'd be interested in any DP items you have. PM me with make/model, price, etc.
Again - sorry for your loss!

I only live a half hour from the show, but since I am tapped, I will probally just pick up some of those delicious Pecans from the lobby. Fifty bucks is too much for the dealers prevue, the lobby is free. Anyway, if I had money, I would be there Friday morning at dawn.
Is there anyone else who lives in Chicago?
Hey Matt,
A friend of mine said that he went to the Kane county show last year and there wasn't anything there. Has it fizzled out in the last years? I remember going to the Pheasant Run show, when all the parking lots across the street were full of vendors. Ah yes, the good old days before Ebay.
Actually, Tom from Jersey, five years ago there was a box of four Popperettes, turned upside down and sideways. If I only knew what I know now, I would have bought them. At that time I didn't know how to restore a Popperette.
I still may take my two boys to the show on Saturday. It's kind of a tradition. They're getting older now and each year the show is getting more and more comercialized. So much for the old sellers that would travel from town to town like gypsies. Again, the good old days before Ebay.

Thanks for the info, Tom. I did pretty good at the Kane County Show last year. But you are pretty much right, Larry. There isn't a ton of stuff to be had. But then again I've only been going for a couple of years now so I have nothing else to compare it too! A crate of Popperette's?!?! Wow...I would have loved to have stumbled onto that

Just an effort to make sure to meet as many as you guys I can in Chicago...should we set a place to meet or something or do cell phone numbers so we can connect. I've talked with Eric and Tom from Jersey and have their numbers... would be fun to get together for a few beers/soda's or dinner or something like that on Thursday or Friday nite? I'll be there Thursday evening and hopeing to do some room to room if any going on.. We could just PM cell phone # as not to put out here for general public? Just a thought?

It worked last year when John friend was doing that warehouse sale we had a list of numbers to call and that worked out . Oh yeah if you Guy get together you need to take a group photo Ok.
