Hi guys... I am new here and just received an old Cavalier Pepsi machine. It has a few problems with it that I am trying to work with, but I just can't find which machine I have. After looking through the database one here, it appears to be either the CS-96C or CS-96E, but the pictures to resemble mine all the way. Also, I dont see how my machine can hold 96 cans/bottles. It has 12 rows and i loaded cans to one row and only could fit 7 cans. I am including a pic of it so hopefully someone can help me id the year range and model of this machine. I am also needing to know what type of freon this takes as it needs a charge. The only other problem with it is the Coinco Coin-op seems to have a problem and it sounds like the transformer is just needing replaced.. Hope you guys can help or lead me to help.. Thanks in advance Derek

Welcome aboard! Looks like a USS-96, which will hold 96 bottles (the small ones) or 84 cans. I believe it takes refrigerant R-12 (Freon).

Thanks for the info... I looked at the USS-96 and besides the wood paneling and the split in the window, its looks to be the one. Do you guys know where to find the service manuals for this? Also, has anyone messed with making new slots in the racks to allow for 12 oz bottles? I am wanting to make a few of these racks work with that so I can put some beer bottles in there and didnt know if it would be too much of a pain or not.

It should work just fine with 12oz bottles. The bottles should be put in neck first though. Otherwise they may not hit the trip lever on the tray. if this isn't hit, then the lever will not vend.

I found a plate on the frame of the condensor that had the model listed as CAV-876... Does this sound familiar to anyone? If so, do I still want to use R-12 and would anyone know where I could find a service manual for it? Also, if my coinmech ends up biting the dust, where would I go about finding how to put a "cheater" button in there to release the mechanism to get sodas out? Thanks in advance

Just unplug the mech and set the bottle stack on free vend - a tutorial was just posted - I think Jim was going to add it to the Tips and Tutorials section.

I have never seen a pepsi uss-96. Nice find. Like bubba said it will vend 12oz bottles if you load them neck first. There is a diagram on this website to show you how to make a free vend switch. I cant seem to find it, maybe Jim can help locate it.

Thanks for the compliments.. I need to post some more pics of it cleaned up.. I am actually thinking that this is not a USS-96 though... I found a plate on the compressor frame that says CAV-876 so I am guessing that is what it is.. I was hoping to find someone that knows about this but no luck so far.. I would like to find out because there are a few things I need to buy for it like a new door seal and service manual...

That is just a number on the compressor. You have 12 different selections, and they say its 8 items per selection--- USS-96. On my 64, I can fit 8 cans, but not always 8 bottles.
