Hey Guys, I was talking with Josh (loman)about wanting to get my first roundtop and he said to post it. That you guys were like family to him and that someone would help or maybe suggest. I would like to buy a round top of some sort doesn't have to be one of the smaller ones or the ones in demand. One that maybe I would have to do a little repair and cosmetic work but would prefer one that was working and maybe needs some body work and paint. Anything out there? Has anybody looked at the VMC-33 on ebay it was up to 635.00. Is that to much for that machine. I was thinking about that one .It is about 7 hours from me but I have to go within a couple hours of it in a few days . I am from the Charleston WV area.
Thanks Olympian (Jim)

The VMC 33 is an excellent first machine and parts are easy to
find, other than the drum. If this machine needs to be painted, you
should stop bidding at $750.00. But if it's the one I remember from
yesterday on e-bay, it was a nice original worth more like $1000.

Welcome Jim!
Josh is family around here and a wealth of knowledge!
One aspect to think about is what you want the machine to vend....
Small 8 oz. Cokes only (like the VMC 33 ir VMC 27, etc.)
or
a variety of bottle sizes like the V81 or V110.
The 110's can still be had fairly inexpensively (as long as you have a strong back - 400#)
You could shoot for a V80 (the one with stainless steel is nice looking - IMO) and it can be modified to vend cans.
Think about which model and machine capabilities appeal to you and one will show up nearby if you are patient. Check the paper, Craig's list, eBay, etc. regularly and you'll find one at a good price.
