Vendo 39 drum/ template of it????

Hey all Does anyone have a spare 39 drum or for that fact could anyone here loan me theirs or make a template of their drum so I can repo it? Yes I know they make a 300.00+ repo of it but( im cheap) and I figure I can make one for 25.00 or so, if I have a template. Thanks

25.00!!! I'm in..I'll take one... I don't have a drum any longer, but if you can remake one and make with larger holes so it holds Beer bottles I'd take one and find a V-39 to put it in...
what do you make it of? I've seen them repoed in Plexiglass and acrylic before...

I might be picking one up in a few weeks with orignal drum and I could get the template to you, or somewher here might have the dimensions or make a template!!!

Punching the holes may not be difficult,  but reproducing the rear plate with its indexing holes and counterweight could present a real problem.  Also, once you have one in hand, that $25.00 estimate will immediately fly out the window.

Moon Yea I have seen the backplate of the drums before( in pictures) and you are right that is where the work is at....... But even say I ended up costing 50-100 thats still worth it to me........Now a dumb question I know how the basket rotates but what is the point of all of the punched out tabs on the back( not the side of the back drum portion) the physical back part that faces the back of the machine ? to keep the bottles from falling backward in the drum? If so I suspect I could make something easier to avoid those cutouts

PS I know I need more experience with the drum but have never seen one in person so....... I'm going on pictures I have seen through the years.

Those prongs are  found on early drums.....to hold the base of the bottles only. Don't think they would worth reproducing, they are useless!

The later style drums eminated the tabs and simply had smaller diameter holes in the back plate to limit how far the neck (10 oz bottle) could go in. The 6 1/2 oz bottle base just pushed up against it.

If my memory serves me, the old style had the three prongs, as Glen refers to them, because the drum only had two large diameter plates so a little support on the backing plate helped...
Newer styles drums went to three large diameter plates plus the backing plate which has holes stamped out. These drums could vend the 6oz - 8oz bottles as well as the slightly larger/longer bottles(12oz & possibly 16oz(I never tried these though)) with the latter being inserted bottle cap first...
As Glen has stated, the indexing holes/slots will present a challenge... Perhaps a die/stamp combo can be manufactured that can be pressed after the holes/slots are cut in the flat stock metal...
