It's made by Rustoleum, it's called Hammered paint actually, not really sure why it's reffered to as Hammertone? maybe another manufacturer? I have never tried to spray it, just have used it in rattlecans... but I've been able to find it at most Home Improvement stores.

Hammertone is the finished look, Hammerite is a brand name.... here's a place that can give you an idea of what colors are out there and how it can be bought.

I think their the same.. I use Hammerite light blue for candy machines...
the two blues look about a like.. though Hammerite's light blue
is just a little more blu-ish where Rustoleum's light blue looks more grey.
Also Hammerite has another green a more industrial light green... which I think if you mixed it with a little of their other green you would get a perfect
Stoner Machine green... That's my plan anyway.....

So I only have experence in auto paint. Do you apply one even coat and then wait an hour like the can says befor you apply the second or is this a no brainer for the right hammertone look? I'm doing my slider rack and I've done the bottom area first and not really happy with the hammer effect. Next question can you powder coat over primer and body work or does it have to be bare metal? (stupid question) I'm sure there's a adhesion issue or heat issue.

Spray one coat and wait a few minutes then spray the next coat in in the opposite dircetion. Example- first coat spray vertically and the second coat horizontally.

Thanks for the tip's. Ive decided to put bc/cc on it since I've spent so much time repairing it. Is the reason you use hammertone the cost? or is it becuase the effect you get? or is it some how more durable when cured?

The above mentioned Hammer products are good for looks as
well as withstanding cold temperature. On a slider rack you have
a third consideration.......fricton. As the bottles slide along the
rack they scrape the paint off the edges, exposing bare metal and
allowing rust to form again.
Powder coating works best here. Sure sandblasting and heat
will melt your bondo, so fill pits and paint the viewing area after
it has been powdercoated
