My wife said I was done buying for awhile, but then I heard this voice one morning as I was scanning craigslist--- "pssssttt.. don't you want another video game?? After fighting with myself for a few days, I gave in to the urge.. I am now the proud owner of the arcade game Turbo by Sega... '>
It is a stand up driving game from the early 80's... It has sound issues, and a very loud cooling fan.. but screen and controls are flawless. Cabinet is a 10 footer.. I need to find a manual and schematics for it-- klov doesn't have the paperwork for this one...
I'll get some pics in the next few days after I clean it up a bit....

I spent many a quarter on this game as well. For some reason, I'm not in love with it though... I don't know if its the sound being off, or what, but I haven't gotten attached to it yet... I still spend most of my game time on my other Time Pilot. I want a driving game, but I don't think this is the one.. I've got someone else who wants it, so I may give it to him.. Right now, it is still in my dining room... I haven't liked it enough to carry it into my basement yet.. I want to diagnose at least before I totally loose interest in it...
I'll get some pics shortly either way... Thanks Doc for the links...

Great game! I've had it a couple of times, once as a sit-down and once as an upright. Keep an eye out for the straightaway/curve transitions--if you're passing when one occurs it's almost a guaranteed crash. Growing up with that machine made me good at that--kept me ahead of the kids for longer than usual, anyway.

centech... you wouldn't happen to have a manual laying around for it???
I have one issue with it that I need some advice on.. The upper speakers are either blown completely, or something with the sound board itself. Are they just regular 4ohm speakers, or is there something special with them? I guess the best thing is to just plug a good speaker into it and see how it sounds?

Here's the manual online: Turbo Manual
IIRC, it's just a plain ol' 4 Ohm speaker--so, yeah, just plug in another one, see what happens.

BTW, that's about as nice an unrestored Turbo as you're going to see, cosmetically. I went round and round when fixing up mine looking for a steering wheel--that foam gets damaged and before you know it, there's no wheel there--just a tri-spike. Ended up with some other Sega wheel (Monaco GP, maybe?) on it for the longest time. Looks like your wheel just needs some elbow grease to the metal bits, but it's o/w sound. Also, there isn't a great place to set a cigarette on these machines, so the whole left side plastic sometimes would be all browned up--and that's if they didn't "stand" the cig up near the the instructions and really foul things up. But anytime I see a Turbo @ auction, seems like there's always cig damage.
It's a pretty one you've got there--Nice score, friend.
