Coin door hinge scraped paint

I was putting the coin door back on my 81D and when I rotated the hinge it scraped some of the paint off. Is there any way to keep it from doing this or is this part of painting the hinge and opening the door ? Now I will have to get some touch up paint to fix it. The coin door was painted with the hinge attached, was this the wrong way to do it ? Any suggestions ? Thanks !

After the same problem dozens of times, Terry of
Sodaworks showed me the solution. Simply add spacers
to allow the hinge some space from the main door.

Tony use a stainless #10 flat washer behind the hinge on each bolt. This will shim out the door away from the paint.

This search result is partially close to my question. One of the original questions in the post was "The coin door was painted with the hinge attached, was this the wrong way to do it?"

Well 13 years later, I have the same question for what is the proper way to paint a 81D coin door? With the hinge pin remaining in place? The design of the hinge pin is not designed in my opinion to ever be removed. Just curious on really  bad machines where the hinge pin may need replacing with a SS hinge rod pin.....would you grind out the end tit of metal on the coin door in order to get the pin out? 

If the original hinge pin is left in during repainting, what is used for lubricating the hinge pin?

I believe leaving the hinge as is works well provided you ensure the hinge is cleaned, better yet, media or sand blasted to remove all old paint and debris.  Do not use any oil to lubricate the hinge prior to primer/paint as it will cause major issues as it leaks back out during these processes!
Try and be sure the hinge does rotate as it should as best you can and after paint you can add a little silicone lubricant to aid in opening/closing the hinge.
