Vendo 81 restoration question

Hey guys. I am getting deeper into the restoration of 2 81s. For you that have done these in the past. How for do you tear down the bottle stack? Do you drill out all the rivets holding the mechanism together ot do you just scuff and shoot them? Do you pull the rollers out of the stopper where the bottle comes out?
I have mine mostly apart, but don't know what to do with the pieces that are rivetted together. Part of me says pull it completly apart part says just clean it up and hit it with some hammertone paint. The rollers on the stopper I plan on replacing with new stainless ones.
Just looking for opinions,
Marvin

I have never gone to the trouble of breaking one all the way down. I always just scuff and repaint.

For my Vendo 56RT that I'm currently working on , I broke the Bottle Stack completely down.
I removed the bottle stack face, took out the bottle gate arms but didn't punch out the rollers, removed all springs and clips and, removed the entire vend mechanism. I media blasted all parts and repainted/painted everything and reassembled.
It turned out really great and makes me feel better knowing that I went through the stack very thoroughly. I also learned quite a bit in the process!

Like BrianB - I tear mine down as much as possible. Up to but not including any rivets and rollers. Clean, blast, paint and reassemble.

Thanks for the pics. After seeing one that has been done I will just blast the seperate parts and paint them.
Does the paint hold up well on the rollers and hinges?
I'll post some before pics a little later.

I like the detail of the red primer on the back of the bottle stack face. That's what I like to do as well.
