I was wondering if any of you have seen a cooler like this.  It is small in size with a handle in the middle of the Westinghouse looking lid.  It has little tabs on the inside like it might have held a rack, possible for candy to sit on.  The legs are not cut offs, they even have 3 of the 4 little rubber feet on the bottom.  It appears authentic, with a nice 30's decal on it.  Any help out there?

Tom,

Is "Drink Coca-Cola" on all four sides?
Is the inside lid embossed?
How about a few additional photos... The bottom view, side, inside, etc...
And dimensions, are the lenght and width the same as another cooler...?
Perhaps Cavalier or Westinghouse as the style is very similar...

Hmmm. the ICE COLD CANDY was painted on, by a good sign painter I
must say, you can tell by the letters C and the D, they are not
quite exact..but the Coca-Cola logo looks like it was factory screened on...
The handle doesn't look like a westinghouse... I've only seen three handles they've used.....
Yeah Tom let's see some more pics... where did you pick this little guy up at?

It is 20" wide, 13" tall.  The same Ice Cold Candy, and Drink CC with the TM in the tail is on the 2 larger sides.  There is a drain that you can see in the photo that also looks authentic.  I have not yet picked it up.  The guy wants a lot for it, and was just seeing if anyone else out there had seen such a thing sell before, in hopes of knowing a price range.  I just have no clue.  I will probably go pick it up later today since I dont have anything like it, even though he probably wants too much...  and yes, the Ice Cold Candy is painted on, and done with the same type of lettering you would see on the priviledge panels of the 1930's signs.  I see no manufacturer markings of any kind on there...

Tom,
I like it!! I have never seen one before. I would buy it if the price was reasonable.

WOW  1,000 for a candy cooler.   It is nice looking but I would rather look at 1,000 dollars.  Of course if that comes with enough candy bars it would be OK '<img'>

Thanks Signguy - That is kind of the way I have operated.  I guess that is why I have so much junk - well it isnt junk to me...  I will probably pick it up since I dont hate it - I have to pick up stuff when I dont have it, just a bad Coke habit...

Was wondering why Coke would produce a cooler and share
advertising space on the front, they never marketed any type of candy.
This must have been some type of stadium vendor where the only way to keep the chocolate from melting was to put it on a shelf
above the iced Cokes.

Well I got it.  I will post some pictures later today, once i figure out how to make then a little smaller in size.  I took them in too high of a resolution, so they are gigantic.

I got it for $850, which is a little better than $1000, but I'm sure still too much.

When I have the opportunity to buy one that I dont already have, I almost have to take it!!!

Looks to me like it was originally white in color and was painted Coke red later.
Is that what you think Tom?

Is the SodaMuseum.com site your own. If so its very comprehensive.
Any chance of a few more pictures of other toys whilst you have the camera out...

Yes, www.SodaMuseum.com is my website as is www.SodaMachineManuals.com.  I sell a bunch of items on SodaMuseum.com (about 4000 different items right now) that I either ran across and don't need or that are extras.

The paint is strange, but all original unless the repainting was done in the late 30's.  There is some white under the red in most places but not all, and when I look at an angle to see if there might be another decal under the Coke one, I cannot see anything.  The entire underside, like behind the insulation and up inside the legs is all the same white, like maybe it was an undercoat or something.  If any of you are ever in the Saint Louis area, let me know.  Would love to talk machines.  I will get some other pictures of other items up soon and will be sending quite a few to Jim for posting on the site.

Thanks.

All I have for the G-400-U2 is an 8.5 x 11 Coke brochure from 1957.  It would look cool framed next to the machine, but that is about all.  I'd be happy to send you what I have, color copied, front and back.  Just send me your address and I will shoot it off to you.

I have 2 of the machines, but not a manual.  I could probably use one for mine too!  They are cool machines and I probably need both of mine to get 1 working right.

Tom,

I'm at a loss...
My Six Sense(Cents) leads me to think this may have been a possible prototype... It does have similar sytling to that of the Westinghouse/Cavalier Junior.
I did notice two brackets that may have supported a shelf for the candy. Are there four brackets or just these two?
You may never find info on this cooler, but it's still very unique and possibley one-of-kind!

Now I'm counting on you Jim!!!  You have to tell me what this is - just kidding!  I know it is a strange thing, but I thought with all of the able minds here I might find something.

If you want to place it on the unknown list, feel free, maybe someone, someday, will know something.  I have a few more unknowns that I will shoot over to you as well, at least unknown to me...

It came out of Concordia, Missouri.  That is about all I know about it.

It does have 4 tabs, as if it held a wire shelf, or tray or something.  One of the 4 tabs is partially broken, but the other 3 are there.  The size is smaller than any other of the more well known cooler junior size coolers and with the sides corners and legs the way they are, it looks very art-deco to me.

Thanks,

When a shelf would be in the cooler...
How deep would the bottom half below the shelf be?
As tall as a 6 1/2oz. Coke bottle?
How deep would the top half be with the top seated fully on the gasket?

Is that from a manufacturers tag or where it was found?

There is not a manufacturer tag of any kind.  The guy I bought it from bought it at an auction in Concordia Missouri, and that is all I know about it unfortunately.

I dont think that there is enough room to stand up a 6 1/2 oz bottle, esp with a shelf/rack in there.

The top part is probably only about 4 inches or so.  I dont have it here to measure, but when I get back in front of it, I will double check.

Also, I took a bunch of not-so-great pictures of some of the other machines and coolers that I have, and I will post them as well.

Should I just post those here???  or start a new thread???
