The crank handle on my vendo 81 coin mech is very tight. When I place a dime in the mech and crank it down it fails to comeback up on its own.  '<img'>

Even worst part is when I need to get into the inner coin door area it requiers a great deal of strength to get the crank handle to move and unlock. It requieres so much force I'm concerned that the mech rod will break.

I had the handle chromed, could they have reassembled it wrong??

I was thinking of taking it apart and greasing it. I removed its cover but cannot figuer out how to remove its inner assembly??

Please help!

Failure of the handle to return after cranking tells me its not the handle but something else along the lines of the vending mechanism that runs inside the door and or the bottle rack release mechanism. I could be wrong, its been awhile since I worked on one.

You might also want to check the spring to see if that has come adrift in the coin mech. I had a similar problem with my 56 and replaced the spring.

Is this a LD mech you are talking about or a SD mech?

Yes - the pawl in the handle can fit in two ways, but only one way is correct.
You want it to release easy if you pull back on the handle.
If too much pressure is exerted downward, it should release also.
The handle pawl, cam and spring should be greased.

This is a large Door Mech.

I talked to the guy at Funtronics, he said that during the chrome process the inners of the handle where degreased. Suggested I take it apart and regrease it. I plan on doing it tonight.

Let you guys know what happened.

Regardless of the handle being greased or not, the handle should spring back.
Can you see on the back whether the return spring is broken or loose?

Are we assuming the chrome plater broke down the handle, plated and re-assembled it?  My friend sent one to the plater complete, and that's how they dipped it.   It came back frozen solid and we had to use a vise and hammer to open it up

I bought a mech and handle one time and the handle was that way.
It was a real pain to get apart. I ruined the cover plate in the process.
