Just as quick as I sold three 81Bs, all of a sudden three 81Ds pop up down the road..ok, 45 miles down the road...
I ended picking one up..it is clean, no rust and will be an inside machine..it is the least displayable of my three originals but I got some white top cleaning to do to get rid of some minor surface rust...but so far, so good.
I will add the pics of the machines the seller still has as well as my original Cav. 72, VMC 44, Vendo 81D.
By the way, the seller wants 1400 for the 56, 2600 for the complete 81, and 2400 for the other one (it had a repop coin mech taken out of it)...I escaped without having to enter the 2k range...and still think I got the best one...go figure.

Great score!! I talked to that guy. He said the 56 had beltline rust. How bad was it? Thanks, Creighton

Thanks, Creighton!
Beltline rust on all sides including the back...maybe 3-4 little holes on each side (can't remember exactly). I didn't think it was that bad or it was no worse than the one I have (see previous post on v-56).
The 56 didn't have any dents though...I think you might be only one who has an original 56 with no beltline rust..maybe the idiot 56 drain tube installer was sick the day Vendo built your machine!

I think the drain tube guy was filling in for the wiring guy. Looks like mine shorted early on and someone just gutted it and used it as a prop.
Your collection looks great. That is the 3 machines I would like to add.
If anybody needs help with shipping on the 56 I'm close. Creighton

Its almost like the 56s are made with cheaper steel....China? I've got 2-3 right now that don't have beltline problems, just paint chipping on the tops, and rust at the bottom of the bottle doors..
