I have never owned a cavalier machine, so I need a little help. A guy has a Cavalier that he says he can load with cans or bottles. Has anyone had one of these and are they pretty reliable machines.
He is asking 400 but I know I can buy it a little cheaper than that..

QUOTE Has anyone had one of these and are they pretty reliable machines? What model machine is it? Value depends on that! Cav 55E-2 is definately worth that - little high for the Cav 55D. Don't know of many other machines that can vend both.

Tom, I have not seen the machine and he was not sure of the model. He did say that it was a squaure top and was in good working condition. he said it has a knob that pushes the can out if that makes any sense to you.
I guess I will go look at it and see exactly what it is. I had just not seen a machine that vending cans out of a regular bottle stack.

The Cav 55E-2 vends two flavors and has a pushbutton for each. I think the USS64 has a knob-like thing inside the bottle door that you turn to release, but I thought it was either bottles or cans and not both - Bubba can answer. Let us know what it is.

Thanks Tom, I got up and looked at the pictures in the machine section and from what he described it is a USS96. I just did not know there was such an animal. Around here you see Vendolator and that is about it.
I will go look at it but I would pay no where near 400 for the 96 in the machine section...Thanks

My guess would be a Cav64. Here are pics of mine. It can vend bottles or cans and the "knobs" or dials turn counter clockwise to kick the drink over.

I have a Cavalier USS7-91-56 that vends cans or bottles. With cans, it loads two rows for each flavor. It sometimes vends only the front or back row skipping one or the other, if you turn the vending knob to slow. Other than that it has worked well. Jerry

Hey Dan, Aren't your bottles loaded backwards? Shouldn't they be the other way so you can grab the neck? Just curious

Roger... The Cavaliers have a locking mechanism on the cradle that prevents the knob from being turned if there is no selection. With some bottles, the neck does not hit this lock and it will not vend. I have some bottles that work and some that don't in mine, so I turn them all backwards as well.
CVB141--- why the 2 rows of cans? Is it supposed to alternate selections? My USS shelves would probably fit 2 cans deep, but it would vend 2 for 1....

It looks better to have the caps facing the front, but like Ken said, they don't always work and put enough weight on the mechanism towards the front. The loading directions on the door have you loading the bottles in so that the cap touches the back spacer.

Yes, it is supposed to alternate vending cans from the front row to the back. It has a ratching mechanism that works ok as long as you twist the vending knobs kind of swift. If you take your own sweet time about it, it will vend just one row. You can remove the ratching hardware and add a spacer to vend bottles, but I don't have any spacers and I prefer the cans any way. A Church nearby has one like mine, but set up for bottles. Technically it will vend cans but they don't have the correct hardware to make the switch either. Jerry

I have a USS96 that's just like Dan's except that it's bigger. Bought for $200. Cost me another $50 bcks to replace the vend switch and all the fluorescent bulbs and starters. Great machine. Kids get <<cheap>> cans of pop on the bottom and my beers are on top. It's a keeper just because of it's veratility.
