Has anyone that advertises classifieds on this website had any e-mails from so call purchasers of antique soda machines that have buyers in africa? How legitimate are these purchasers? And does anyone have any experiences with these guys? It does sound like a scam to me. I had two e-mails that state "give me your address and we will send a check". Thanks and seller beware?

I haven"t advertised on this site, but have sold machines to people in Holland, England Australia and Japan. Remember that our machines were produced here and stayed here. To my knowledge, other countries except Canada, have never had pre-60's machines exported to them. Your request may have been instigated by a wealthy customer, in need of what you have for sale He wants your adrdess to mail a check. Give him a P.O. box, or your work or Western Union, When the money is good, let them have it! Glen

I just got an email from an Adams Smith located in West Africa(doesnt even name the country, just the continent)wanting to buy my machine. It sounds alot like a scam. I know for one thing the guy doesn't know how to turn off his CAPS LOCK! Has anyone dealt with this man, because it sounds like on of those email scams with a millionaire trapped in some country you never heard of, and if you transfer his vast fortune to your bank account in order to help him escape, he will give a couple million for the trouble. All you have to do is email him your bank account #......... '>

Keep us posted on the responses, this is interesting...
I have had a few people from overseas contact me to buy the Soda Machines I have listed... Since the header info in the email message was strange, I either ignored it or sometimes replied with: We don't sell soda machines!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall seeing any soda machines for sale from Soda-Machines.Com...

Well, the looks like I made a sale! LOL Heres what he sent this morning.
"thanks for th e mail,i mean i will instruct my associate in the united states that is oweing me $4,000 to issue you a cashier check drawn in an american bank and as soon as the check clears in the bank,i will like you to hold out your amount and send me the difference via money gram so that i can arrange with my shippers in their local office here to pick up the machine from you.if this terms are okay by you i will like you to provide me with your contact details and phone number in which the check will be sent to asap"
Heres my response back!!!
That sounds fine. If you want to send the check to the address below that will be great. I am going out of town this evening and will not return for the next few weeks, and will be having my computer repaired so contacting me via email or phone will not be an option. If you could just send detailed transaction instructions along with the check and my friend will handle the matter. If you could, please include a copy of this email in the letter, just to remind him what the check is for. Thanks, and I look forward to completing this transaction.
