We picked up a Cavalier C6-231-154 yesterday. It will not vend. The guy we picked it up from had messed with the wires at the relays (although it did not vend before he did that). The coin mech works, you can manually get each slot to vend. We followed the wiring diagram to the best of our abilities and rewired the two relays.

When you put a coin in both of the relays click (about the same time) and make contact to the other side and then pop back to their original state... Is this correct? Or should they stay to the other side until a button is pushed?

I know pics are great unfortunately the mahine is not here and the pics last night came out pretty bad.

Any theory on how this works from dropping the coin to picking up your ice cold soda would be great. Thanks

I AM NOT A WIRING DIAGRAM GUY, BUT HERE IT GOES... IF SOME ONE COULD TELL ME WHICH NUMBER FROM THE DIAGRAM CORRESPONDS WITH THE NUMBER ON THE RELAYS, MAYBE I CAN BE SURE IT IS WIRED CORRECT.

THANKS

I can't shed a lot of light on this, but the relays should click once and stay there until you press a button (and then click back again).

What are the model numbers on the relays ? I can probably guess at the wiring on the second relay.. but the first one I'm not sure..

Attached is an idea of how the wiring may look..  I would need the model numbers to be sure.. (so I could find the data sheets)

Thanks Chris, I will take a look and get some model numbers. We had a electrician buddy come by, who actually has the relays working properly (we believe). Everything seems to work but the machine won't vend. Coin mech works, everything clicks, you can manually get the cans to fall by moving the stop, but pushing the button doesn't work. We physically traced all the wiring and everything seems to be in tact. Any other checks would be appreciated.

Thanks again,

Dave

Do the relays stay activated though ? I don't know about this particular machine, but on most machines the relays click on and stay there until you select a drink.. (after that the can drops and the relays click off)

Have you checked to make sure you have enough cans in there to turn off the sold out condition ?  Some machines won't vend unless there's like 4 - 6 cans of the flavour you want...  (and some won't vend unless there's 4 - 6 cans in every column!)

I don't know where the sold out switches/sensors are this machine, but try bypassing them if you can and see if that makes a difference...

Let me know how it goes..

I still didn't get the model numbers. We have tried to vend out of one or two but not all. We'll give that a shot. We did make sure the sold out light went out on the ones we tried to vend. We'll fill her up and give'er a go 'eh! Thanks for the tips. I'll let you know how it works out. '<img'>

I sure like the older machines... Reminds me of being able to climb under the hood of my '67 with the straight six! ':p'

We filled the machine and it still does not vend. The relays kick over, you push a button... nothing. Manually move the stop so the machine can vend and, it drops the soda then the relays kick back. Today we are going to try and by-pass all the wiring to motors and the can vend side from the switch (push button).

Relays - Potter and Brumsfield
Double: KU-2023
Single - KU-2018 or 6 can't tell

I'll get some better pics today if we don't get it working.

Thanks

So the relay clicks in when you insert a coin, and clicks out when you manually dispense a soda ?  Sounds like the wiring is correct for the relays if that is the case (I will see what I can work out now I have model numbers though).

Let me know how it goes when you bypass everything..  I would try applying power directly to the vend motors just to see if they work ok.. (that way you can rule out one more thing).

Good luck..
