This is fine...everythings going to be OK....

« on: December 21, 2006, 08:46:22 pm »

Thought I'd round out December by posting an update on my Vendo V81A project, the bodywork was complete, as well as the "Rhino-coating" of the liners backside & the inside of the chassis/body shell, I also had the back of the door liner coated, ( last weekend) and so on to the paint booth it went & the base coat of good-ol' Coke red was applied (this past Tuesday) it was clear coated & lettered today ( pictures pending) & the final re-assembly is for tommorow & a nice run-in overnight for the compressor,

Funny thing happened (not funny Ha-Ha) when I went to pickup the compressor deck of of my bench the capillary line got hooked on my bench vices handle & Pffft!!!!  '<img'> !!! yep I kinked the tube & got a dandy of a leak, well I had to patch the line at the break with a little piece of 1/4" tubing crimped down to fit the cap' tube & brazed it on, & Vacuumed the system & recharged with R12, & got it back up & running ( no leaks! whew!) only when you're in a hurry.

Why all the Rush? why the customer wants it by Saturday the 24th for his Christmas party of course!  (it's for Mr. Art-Van of ArtVans furniture himself no less!

Yep! no pressure at all  ':p' , Merry Xmas all!

I like that too. That is got to be the cyber-friend mantra.
All kidding aside - looks very nice. I wish my 81 had that shine!
Best wishes for getting it done on time.

Looks great!
Eventhough you're pressed for time, be careful on re-assembly; you don't need any "OOooops" this stage of the game.

On another note, I've always liked spraying my doors in a horizontal position so they come out like glass...

The black coating on the slug rejector is an oxidized zinc left over from an ill attempt to clean it in an acid based cleaning solution, & it looks a bit off, it doesn't affect the coin-mechs operation, ( the owner didn't want to pop for the extra bucks to have it re-plated)

I am really getting to prefer the hammertone look as opposed to the smoother finish of a powder-coated liner. I think it adds some depth. not as durable though, guess that's the trade-off.

The original foam seal was way to rotted for re-use, so I improvised with two of those large foam paint brushes pointing end-to-end to form the seal for the doorlatch. it worked out very nicely!

Thanks Pat, I used Rustolem Hammertone silver, after removing the sliders & springs, & sanding down any rough spots & corrosion on the shelves & liner, I degreased them (dried) & sprayed it on in three light coats to prevent running, this is pretty tough stuff,

I don't understand why people would put a lot of money into restoring a machine and not go the distance.
How much more would a simple mech like that cost to do?
Anyway, nice job John - I too like the Hammertone look and durability.
