I have the opportunity to pick up the machine below for $1600.00. I saw in the SMC machine section this is a rare machine with embossed lettering. Can someone give me an idea on value?

I may be way off base and have been many times before. I'd say if you can't use this everyday then know it isn't worth it. I can't see it being worth it to me. To me it falls in the $400 - $700 range tops. There are people out there that collect certain machines due to rarity. I wish I could afford that luxury. There are a lot of people on this board (Most all of the regular posters) who know a bit more about the value than me. I don't believe this is very rare at all. There was a manual version of this that vended one selection that is considered rarer but is in fact less valable. There are a lot of machines out there that are as rare but are not all that valuable. Again please don't make decisions on my input. If you got to pull the trigger soon I'd say don't! But if you have time to see what others say I'd do so.

The book says that it is worth $200 for an average origional to $975 for a fully restored machine. All of the 144SA's that I have seen in Coke are embossed. I personally like these tall round tops. I didn't at first untill I saw Markito's 216 in person. They really grow on you but not at that price. There is also a pepsi version of it on ebay right now for less than $200 if I remember. Oh and by the way it weighs 460 LBS Yikes

Dave, good looking machine , But over priced right now.
I think in a few years they may be worth it but not right
now.  It does take 12 oz. bottle so it could be used.
But again not for $1600.00 maybe  $650- $700
Oh does it get cold and does the coin mech work ??

These machines are big and heavy. They do look good but not very desireable because of size. If you pay too much you'll be hard pressed to get your money back. If it's complete I wouldn't pay over 250.
