I rented a van today and drove approx. 500+ miles round trip to pick up my recent purchase of a Vendo 110.  I obviously had a lot of time to think, so I began to wonder how far some of you guys have driven SOLELY to pick up a machine.  I'm sure my 500+ miles is tame next to some of you

I've driven that distance - maybe a little more (600+). Beyond that it just isn't cost/time effective. My drives were also years ago before gas prices spiked. Now a days that would be close to $150 in fuel - not to mention the time spent. So far, I just haven't had the luck that Signguy has had with sellers. If I can ever get a seller to do what they have done for him in getting the machine to Forward Air - I'd be a happy camper. It really boils down to the machine though and how badly I want it.

The farthest I have gone is from Minneapolis Mn to Indianapolis which is about 600 miles but I didn't even end up buying anything.

I have been lucky with some sellers helping me with shipping. but I too have driven for machines. I suppose the farthest was from Minneapolis to Demoine Iowa.. but even in this case the seller drove from Kansas City to Demoine to meet me and I paid him for his Gas. It was worth it for a sweet restored Vendo 56 RT with Glass Door that was priced right! I don't know if I'd do the Minny to Indy Trip??? but for the right machine... who knows??

I actually found the whole trip to be part of the adventure.  Like any addiction, it isn't always acquiring the item but everything associated with it that gives you the "high".  '<img'>  I do realize that you have to keep expenses in mind though, especially with trucks and vans being such gas guzzlers. I drove about 4 hrs last year, in a flat bed one ton with NO AC in July. I ended up picking up 8 machines though so it was worth it.

The furthest I have driven for a soda machine is a little under 400 miles round trip.  I have also driven a little over 400 miles in a blizzard for a jukebox!  '<img'>

The last machine I bought was in Dallas, TX.  I am in Memphis, TN.  Closed the deal with the guy on Friday. I was going to get it shipped, but really wanted to get it.  So I got up Sunday morning, went to Dallas, loaded the machine and returned the same day.  It was just shy of 1000 miles round trip.  Like around 950.
