I was afraid of buying one machine and then want another & another & etc. A local guy has a Cavalier USS-96 Pepsi machine for sale, looks decent, but he claims it was built in '61. Think he has it confused with a CSS-96, still a square top. What would be a fair asking price? Compressor operates, doesn't sound bad, but isn't as cold as it should be.

Anybody got a clue? Haven't seen one of these on eBay, so have NO idea the value. Apparently not a big seller?

Welcome to SMC!
As far as a value goes, pictures make a huge difference. I haven't seen to many 96's for sale. I've bought USS-64's in good shape and cooling for $150, and one not cooling for $75. Prices have been going up on these. Personally, I don't think I would pay more than $250 for a 96 in good working condition, but I'm cheap.

Here is another Coca Cola USS 96 that looked pretty good. but I never know about the "It cooled the last time we plugged it in" part.

I'm new to this game and thought all the machines would be valued alot higher. Think the guy wants $125, so I guesss that's a bargain. Thanks all.

first off, welcome to the boards. Don't worry about buying one machine, then wanting more, it's going to happen. Ask most of us here. '>
Square tops are becoming more popular, and while the price is going upon them, they won't make you take out a second mortgage. And from everything i've seen, squaretops will continue to gain popularity as roundtops get priced out of the market for the average Joe.
