I've got two pics of the bottom of my Vendo 44 Machine, the light grey part as you will see is where I was zipping around with the sand blaster.  As you can see there are holes in the left and right side of the body.

Even the bottom plate is eaten kinda thin....  I'm going to replace the bottom plate and probably do a patch work job on the side of the machine, and try not to warp it as I weld it up.

here is another pic of the Machine completely stripped, I sand blasted both the right and left inside and top free of rust, as there isnt any on the outside.  Not to mention the entire bottom plate, and managed to get the bolts out of the bottom, 3 days a jig-a-loo and it came out with a bit if a tug.

I have the back of the tub to do and the bottom plate to sandblast and figure out before I send it out for paint..   The darker gray on the sides is self etch primer...  stuff prevents rust really good.... the bottom is getting weld through primer in anticipation of some welding.

Looks good. What are you going to do about the holes in the liner? Are you going to paint the liner once it is done?

Also normally when I pull a liner and insulation I undercoat the inside of the body of the machine. Go to an auto parts store and buy aerosol rubberized asphalt undercoating and spray the inside. It really helps insulate the machine and protects against any moisture getting to the inside metal. Just a tip.

Well the bottom plate I'm going to cut out about 1/4 of an inch all the way around and spot weld a new plate in with holes in the same place, this way it has something to hold to.

The side holes I'm going to cut out a square and patch weld it shut.  Basically go around and weld it till its all sealed up then grind the welds down and repeat on the inside till it looks like it was never patched.  

The seams I have a can of seam sealer for cars that I'm going to put in the seams.  As for truck bed liner inside the cabnet, I'm not sure I really want to so that, since, if I miss a spot of rust in the cabnet, and it decides to rust through again.  Its going to be a real pain in the ass to remove.  I'll probably be dead by then the next time I look inside this thing lol.

The zinc self etch primer does wonders for rust.  I took zinc primer primed a piece of sheet metal and left it outside and it didnt rust at all out for almost a month...

I'm going to blast the cabnet some more, my compressor is only a 25 gallon so it takes awhile, 60 gallon here I come lol

Getb your self at least an 80 gallon comp., they work wonders for sandblasting. I also spray in rubberized undercoating inside the cabinet like Josh. '<img'>
