I was on Colamachines.com and reading there Vendo 44 serial # thingy on how to tell what year the machine is.  It says they were produced between 1956-59 which is ok.  Then when you read the Vendo Serial Number Guide it uses a 1952 date which makes sense, the date doesnt, but when I look at my serial number of the machine, nothing makes sense compared to that guide.  If anyone can figure out this serial number feel free to clue me in...

Here is the number 28520A31 and pic included in case you want proof lol

k - thanks to anyone who can decipher it for me

I could be wrong about this but the Vendo 44's were produced into the early to mid 60's according to Jeff Walters book. They were also made in Canada untill the mid 60's as well. After 1959 Vendo stoped dating machines by serial number so that could be why. Also only vendo not vendorlator dated machines by serial number. Your machine is a Vendo but on the tag it says made for Vendo by the Vendorlator company.

I agree with Josh, this was a later production vendo 44. It was made by the Vendorlator Company for Vendo because by this time (not sure on date) Vendolator had acquired Vendo, but still had license to make the machines. I know that Steve at Soda Jerk Works probably could straighten all this out as He and I had a long conversation about Vendo a few weeks ago.
I looked it mine and it's an early model Vendo as it DOESN'T have the "made by Vendolator, for Vendo"  Tag on the id plate.  I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of this soon enough:D

Actually Vendo aquired Vendorlator in the late 50's but still made machines under the vendorlator name for a long time. I have heard that Vendo bought Vendorlator because Coke restricted vendo to only make machines for the Coca Cola company so they bought Vendorlator so they could make machines for the other brands. That is just what I have head.
