I picked up this machine for my buddy I think... If he's lucky '<img'>  Its in good shape, but the compressor or condensor fan don't come on. Evap fan turns on. There is a tap fitting in the freon line, but there is no oil residue signifying a possible leak. If the system has no freon, what will happen? I am familiar with auto ac systems, and if there is no or low freon, the compressor will not come on. There is also a pressure switch that can be jumped to bypass... Are these the same way? My first guess is to check it electrically and replace the starter. I didn't put my gauges on it to see if there is anything in the system or not. Tonite was just a test and cleaning...

Looks nice.  I like the script on the bottle door and the machine looks clean.

Looks great Ken!! I'll bet the return spring is busted. I changed all the springs while I was at it.

Nice & clean.... was that an ebay machine?  I think I was watching it (not to bid it was too far away - just like the machine, especially the script).

Nahh.. this was a craigslist. I actually missed it when it was posted somehow. I did a search through all for sale, and it came up. This is the first USS I've seen for sale around here. My other one has a red door frame with a black door, which I think I like better. This does have a really neat looking coin slot which I may swap doors with mine.

Creighton... where did you get the return springs from? I'll take a gamble on ordering a few.. I need to order a few other things as well...

The difference between yours and this one is this is an early 80's version of the USS-64. You have the 70's version. That is a really clean machine. Good job.

Very nice looking machine.  Even if it's out of freon, it would start and then shut off so the problem may be electrical.  You could bypass the wiring harness and send power directly to the two terminals on the side of the compressor.

I'm gonna have another look at the machine tonite, and see what it looks like. It should be dried out enough by then to give it another go.

I got the machine for $75 and a 2hr round trip drive '<img'> (on the clock, so I got paid also '<img'> )

Ken,
I found springs that worked fine at ACE hardware.
