hey gang,

recently bought a vfa56z-b machine.  been poking around various sites and there are a lot of variations on the vf56 machine.

has anyone put together a list of what the different variations are, or does anyone know how to decode the alphas around the 56?  or was there no method to the madness?

If you are able to post a pic of the machine a few of us here can give you an average date range. I will be on an air plane home for the next two days so I apologize if my response is slow.

I am leaving first thing in the morning. It is a 26 hour flight. Yuck! No I am not really bringing anything cool back. I will be home for about 2 months before I go back to Singapore so hopefully I can find some good finds while I am home. Dave I will look for the V56 linkage when I get back.

thanks josh,

here is a photo of mine.  guessing mid 60's.

i was hoping that the model number was decodable:  original machine type (7up, pepsi, etc...), color, trim level, etc...

i'm going to do some restoration, since the paint is getting chalky, and i'm looking at the screen printing around the coin entry.  mine is grey and the "Vendorator" logo has a big "V".  I've seen a couple of other types of screen printing.  Perhaps these evolved over time.

Greg - check out sodajerkworks and/or funtronics.  I believe both have the decal that goes around the coin entry bezel.

As for decoder ring - I don't believe there is one...
