V-56 the work beginnings.

Thanks to Crieghton's little package arriving in the post yesterday containing the correct headed screwdriver (Creighton will PM you tonight when get home from work) I managed to start taking my V-56 to bits.

I have enclosed a picture of my bottle stack which, according to the manual appears to be missing the locking mech and cam at the bottom.

Does anyone have these parts for sale??? Or do Funtronics etc repro them??

It looks like you are missing all the stuff that goes into the area of the bottle stack where those curved, backwards "S" pieces are.  There should be a long metal bar about 1/2" wide and about a half dozen flat metal plates, as well as two long skinny springs.  Here's a scan from the Funtronics catalog.

#3 is the long metal bar (1 of these)
#5 is the long, skinny spring (there are 2 of these)
#6 is one of the plates (there are about 4-5 of these)
#31 is another plate (1 of these)

Funtronics does not repro these, but some one here may have them.  Funtronics does make the other stuff for the cam assembly.  Anything with a square around the number is repopped by Funtronics.

Dave, Joey has exactly what you need for $150.00, look in SMC's classified section.  He is selling the whole rack, but maybe he could break it down and send you only the mechanical assembly.  This would save you a lot of frustration over purchasing so many parts and then installing them per a diagram.

I have the stack and I also think you were needing the linkage from the stack to the mech? I have that to.

Right chaps.

Have managed to strip the machine out and it is away now with my brother who is going to get a friend to sort out the bodywork (lots of surface rust and some that has penatrated). Have put my name down on Joey's stac and he's throwing in the Rod. (Cheers matey) Crieghton has provided me with the manual so I'm getting there. I still need some bits and pieces. Mostly repor (gaskets etc) Has anyone got

1. A crank handle with clutch inside etc.
2. A clear glass door. Did they come with clear doors as well as the oscured type I have or are they stolen from later models??

I'm also in two minds about preparing the machine. I want this to be a "pucker" job so have decided that I am not going to do the spraying. I do not have the equipment or expertise. There is some bodywork that needs sorted. Again I'd rather leave that to the guys that know what they are doing. What I was thinking of doing was the sandblasting. Not sure how easy that is. I know its time consuming but is it difficult??? ot sure even if I can hire one over here. But if I did I couldget all my jobs done at once. (Still have a dispenser a Joacobs and a USPS Mailbox that needs stripping.)

What sort of price do you guys pay for a professional re-spray. What do I ask for?? Paint wise. I want it so that it has that hard surface with the high gloss.

Lots of questions I know but plse just humour the poor english guy.

An orginal door will be hard to find. The body shop should be able to cut the one you have.

That's the bottle door. Not the main door. Is it just a case of removing the insides and replacing a glass frame or is there more to it??

Dave......Unless you are sending out chrome or zinc plating, it is advisable strip and paint only 1 machine at a time, and don't even get involved in sandblasting, let your bodyshop have it from start to finish.

The bottle door is solid metal under the aluminum trim. This will need to be cut out. Take yours apart and you can see what it going on. I'll send you a couple of pics ASAP.

I have the guts except for the cover plate, which should be easy for you to have duplicated since you have a 39 (same components as long as it is a "true" reproduction). It is just a flat piece of steel cut to fit. I am going to mail the 'pound' mech tomorrow and will include them in the package.
FYI - This seller has a history of negatives saying "I am not responsible after it leaves my hands". I'd pay for the insurance.

They are nice repops, not perfect but nice, I had a busted Vend handle and bought one everything switched over just fine.

That doesn't make him honest. I have probably mailed thousands of items in my life with the USPS and have only had one instance of lost mail (which did get there finally). Maybe bad luck just follows him - huh?

I have to say that everything I have ever bought from the US has always turned up. On some occaions it has taken over htree months but it gets here eventually. Usually with some sort of a dent included.

I bought the handle its going to Joey and is covered with insurance so hopefully one day soon should appear on the 56. My dad, Jack of all trades master of none, seems to think he'll be able to cut the back plate from the one I already have.

If you are not going to do anything with the handle you have, you can put the whole thing in pool acid (muriatic) and it will totally eat the cast aluminum handle and leave the steel parts behind to re-plate.
