Laying down in an suv

Is there any problem with laying down a machine in an SUV? I heard it will damage the refridgeration system

It is okay to transport a soda machine on it's back - just make sure everything is secure.

They say to leave it upright for at least as much time as it was on it's back before you plug it in (hour on the back, hour standing up).  I like to add a little time just to be safe.  I transported a machine this weekend and it was on it's back for 4 hours.  I didn't plug it in until the next morning (about 12 hours).

Don't know what SUV you have but on ours the door latch post sticks up and will scratch a machine. I use a 3.5'x5" stout cardboard tube right behind the post and tilt the machine to rest on that and then just push/roll the machine in. Old blanket under the machine on top of the post and you are set. Move the tube back and it is easy roll the machine out as well. Tie it in as well, warp drive starts and stops not good :-)

The Dr. is right. Take all the shelves/coin box etc.. out, they tend to shift.

Creighton - what a great tip.  Used it yesterday (used 2.5" PVC pipe) when I picked up my Cav USS-96.  That machine weighs a ton, but I was able to roll it in and out of the minivan on my own without hardly breaking a sweat (remember it's 105 degrees here now)!
