I have an original metal coin mech that came w/the Cavalier 72 I bought. I have seen this coin mech in many older square top machines like the vendo 63 and 56. It does work but only makes a buzzing sound (nothing moves/does not spit out coins) when I flip the switch located on the bottom right. Any idea what may be wrong, any low cost solutions.

Thanks.

The lowest cost solution is to buy a working Coinco S-75 on E-bay for $30 to $50 and you could then use your old one as a boat anchor (they weigh a ton) '<img'>

Glen is right, the lowest cost solution is probably to get a new one. I bet someone on this site has one though if you just wait. Just for you own edification though, the buzzing sound is most likely the electromagnet for the rejector blockout arms. Take the rejector out, plug it in and see if you can determine the source. I have found that sometimes (not too often) that cleaning the electromagnet with a shot of contact cleaner will do the trick. Maybe it is like hitting someting with a sledgehammer and suddenly it starts working, but it is worth a try. I would take the mech out of the machine before doing this though to insure no damage to the paint! Good Luck!

I have a nice looking one that was rejecting all coins. I removed both C.R.E.M.s and taped off the wires yesterday. It's  working fine so far.

Thanks for the tips guys. MoonDawg your right, they are way to heavy. I was changing my wife's front truck tier and it worked great as a saftey block bellow the rear right tier. '<img'>
I had purchased 2 Mars coin mechs (5800/I think) last week and had a chance to try them both today. Boy they work great. I thought it would be nice to save the original but guess its not allways the most economical thing to do.
