I have a Vendo V83 that was heavily corroded. By looking at most of the internal parts "which are now a gray white speckled color with some rust mixed in" it looks like they might all have been Yellow Zinc.
Is this correct? I can tell whats been painted and whats alum. The rest have some remnants of a yellow plating while others are completely missing an evidence. None appear to have been galvanized.
Would it be best to replate yellow zinc or powder coat these instead?
I can't find any reference to what was plated what.

Hey Todd - welcome to the boards. I don't have a V83 so you'll need to take my comments with a grain of salt. That said, I think you'll find that the yellow tinge is actually oxidation on galvanized steel. Try a little simple greem and steel wool as a test.

I've got an unrestored 83, and the wheel and inner cabinet is all galvanized.

Thanks for all the replies. This is my first machine and its been a real education so far and more work than I thought it would be.
I will try and post a pic later but the Yellow finish I see on numerous parts does not appear to be corrosion and the parts do not appear to me to be galvanized.
The finish looks like the same finish I see on the coin rejector, a transparent pearlized yellow.
I was trying to replicate all the finishes as from the factory but not if they won't hold up like they did before.
The tub along with the inner door sheet metal and numerous other parts were all painted silver, which I will powdercoat. Since there are many gears and sprockets that are in constant wear I want to finish in something that will last and will be durable.

That yellow is a coating they use in zinc plating... After they zinc plate, they
have a couple different coating they put over that to give it extra protection. there's a blue
and a yellow. I had all my shelves for my 81 & 72 zinc-ed and coated yellow.

Alos I bought a coin mech for my 39 from Vintage Vending a few years back that had been restored it
is all replated zinc with the yellow coating.
Hope this helps......
