hi,, i am the proud new owner of a vendo 39 and from what i read so far its the first version. it needs total restoration due to being about 10 feet underwater during katrina!! but it is in incredible shape. ( body and mechanics ), its totally apart right now and cleaned . i am awaiting a catalog from funtronics.  my first question of many is what was the original finish  on the bottle opener.  thanks in advance. joe
by the way, great forum i have learned alot already

I would think chrome... mine needs to be... so I'm getting it and a few other piece chromed this week....
Have a friend who powder coated his Westinghouse standard cooler looks good but you can't do any body work
as far as filling in dents and pits... the body filler can't take the baking process. But as long as it's straight
it should look good.... I have a Bennett pump that's pretty straight I'm thinking
of having the frame/support and base powder coated....

Yeah let's see some images.... And welcome!!!!

Welcome to SMC!
Congrats on the newly acquired machine!

As far as chrome on the V-39, I would re-chrome the bottle opener and the coin return cup. Most everything else is stainless steel and will polish up nicely. The crank handle is always an area of discussion; some people crome plate the handle while others have it polished like original. Should you decide to chrome plate the crank handle, be sure to remove the mechanics on the back.

My six cents,
