All is not well in cavalier 55d land....

After all of this time and work, it turns out that the compressor for my 55D is toast. After I plugged her in I heard the overload relay click on and off real quick and just thought that maybe the pressure in the compressor hadn't equalized yet and that was all it was. I called Eric at Global Compressors for some friendly advice and he told me that it could be a few things but it sounded like the comp. was wasted.
Turns out that the compressor is toast! I thought I may have had a bad temperature control, and I did. So, I bypassed the t-stat by connecting the two wires to see if the unit would cool. NOPE!! it would take it down to about 55 degrees and that's it. The compressor get's hot enough to fry an egg on and it only runs for a minute before the overload relay clicks on and clicks off.
So.....I'm at the point now where I either fix it myself or send it off to have it fixed...What a bummer. But at least the machine looks nice!!

Brian that sucks. You might want to watch
this 55D
as a potential donor.

Bryan, if misery loves company, I'm going through the same thing with my Vendo Standard Spin-Top.

I can't really say "Hey guys, great to see you have the same problem!" But, I guess we're all feeling the same way. I'm going to try out Global Compressors and not even try to mess around with this one. Some of my other more "junky" machines, sure, I'll tear into those systems, but not this one. I want a pro on this job.
So, I'll hopefully be visiting UPS after work today to send off my injured refrigeration deck to Global Compressors. I hope you guys have luck with getting your respective units fixed.

I actually had a AC guy come to my house to inspect the system before I started cleaning it up. He felt the coil (water bath) get cold and said "looks fine - that'll be $75.00".
Heck, I didn't need him to tell me the coil was cold. I figured getting a "pro" to check it out would save me headaches later.
So rewire it, detail it to perfection, and install it - and it kicks off after a couple of minutes. Hello Global Compressors and goodbye $345.00 plus shipping for a new deck. Plus I'll need someone to plumb it to the top deck. Arghhhh...

I feel your pain, Bob. I just sent off my deck via UPS a couple of hours ago to Global. I'd rather not spend that kind of money on something I thought worked fine but, I'll be happy when I get it installed and it works like a champ!
