Here are pictures of the bottle shelf conversion to a can shelf with the addition of a can backstop.

The drill tip pointing to the  metal part of the shelf that I had to bend up so it would fit the can rack.

Is it possible to vend bottles with the can vending mechanism?

Hello

No it is not possible because the can rack has a lever in the back of the can to push the can forward. This lever does not leave enough room for a bottle to load. Maybe it would work with a little pony bottle. I will give it a try with a Red Stripe beer bottle.
