I know this post is old, but I just had time to work on the VF-148-BB.  I have the timing set correctly, but I'm still having an issue wit hthe dropping of the sodas.  The first time it dropped 2, then on a different selection dropped nothing and the other selections nothing.  At this point, I'm wondering if I'm loading it correctly.  The schematic picture shows if the screw is on the right side in the site, load the front first.  Likewise if the screw is on the left side in the view, load the back first.  I've done that several times.  I'm wondering if the bar that runs from front to back needs to be set in the middle of whichever one is being loaded.  The bar flops from side to side and I'm wondsering if the column that is loaded needs to have the can sitting on top of that bar instead of the bar being set to the side it flops to when loading.  Would anyone have any idea about it?  My wife is to the point of telling me to get rid of it.  It gets cold and stays cold.  I'm sure it has to be something very simple to get it to vend.  Please help before I have to get rid of it.

OK, so yeehaw, I finally got my VF-148-BB to vend properly.  I installed the motor and set the timing according to the book.  I loaded the machine several time and it just wouldn't work the way it was supposed to.  I unloaded it and duct taped the sold out levers down so it thought it was loaded.  I left the door open, dropped a quarter and pushed a selection.  What I realized is that the button on mine needs to be held until the soda drops.  I noticed the solenoids were hanging up when the button was pushed and released quickly.  I also noticed, after several operations, the pivot pins were in the wrong location to operate.(they were almost all the way up)  I took out the 2 back bolts holding the motor and loosened the front one.  I moved the bar with the pivot pins down to the proper location.( which was supposed to be almost all the way down)  I swung the motor back up, not worrying about the timing, bolted it back in tightly and voila(that's French meaning whoop there it is) the machine is vending every time as it is supposed to.  Thanks to JohnnyG for the pictures.  They are what got me to thinking about the position of the pivot pins.  Thanks to everyone for helping me through this.  Now the wife is no longer saying just get rid of it if it doesn't work.  I knew it had to be something very simple, but my simple brain just couldn't get it.  It's working well now so we're good to go.  Thanks again for this forum.  Hopefully this explanation will help someone else with this type of machine.
