I've noticed we have NASCAR fans on the board. Was just wondering if anybody else follows Formula One racing?

Hello Creighton,
I haven't fllowed it since they started the "Indy racing series" years ago. I felt it allowed a lot of unqualified drivers to run the Indy 500 with the seasoned veterans. I used to ride three wheelers at pismo beach in the sand dunes, part of our regular riding group was the "Mears Gang" which included Rick Mears (3 time Indy champion) and his brother Roger (Offroad desert racing champion). Roger's son Casey, who was very young at the time now drives the #41 target car in the Nextel cup series. He as well as Kevin harvick #29 Mr. Goodwrench Nextel cup driver grew up in Bakersfield, Ca. which is 30 miles away from me. I started watching kevin harvick race our local track (Mesa marin raceway) when he was only 15 years old. Where he won several track championships. Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon also ran the local dirt tracks here. I also live 20 minutes away from Willow Springs Raceway where they run Formula cars as well. I am a diehard Nextel Cup fan. I go to all the California speedway races. One of my vendors at work gives me infield suite passes, this pass gets you up close to the drivers where you can obtain autographs and photo's. My driver is Jimmie Johnson #48 Lowes. ':drinkers:'

I try to get up early or stay up late to watch the live coverage whenever I can or try to catch the replays if my wife is not around. I raced go-karts for a few years, auto-crossed both of my mustangs (’65 & ’69) and then got in to photography when I couldn’t afford to race. I have done a lot of photo work for N.A.S.A (the car club) and P.C.A. (Porsche Club of America Zone 7). That work kept me busy at Thunderhill, Sears Point, Laguna Seca and Buttonwillow. So I would say I am a fan of any motor racing where the drivers know how to make left and right turns! As for F1 I think it is the ultimate form of auto racing hands down. My most memorable experience involving racing was not the day I took a customer’s 911 around Laguna Seca at speed or going around Sears Point in a fuly race prepaired Porsche with a pro driver for 20 mins of hot laps, but last year at Laguna Seca’s Historic races when Ferrari brought Michael Schumacher’s 2004 championship winning car over to try and set the track record, that was truly amazing.

P.S. Now you know where my screen name comes from and yes my go-kart was number 45

Cool!
Terry, Sounds like you have it made. If any passes come up extra please let us know :-)

Steve,
I was on turn 3 of LS last year, when the MS F1 took it's laps. I still haven't recovered:-) That was the most fun you can have with clothes on. Attached be a pic of one of my fav's from that event. Had a 68 Cougar XR7-GT but long gone now.

Speed Channel is running a LS-04 overview show this month.

Have a champ car race (almost F1) coming to downtown San Jose, end of July should be fun and all are welcome to stop by the house.

Gotta get up early for the Italy race so out for now.

Creighton,
The Daytona Coupe has always been one of my favorites. Here is a picture I took 2 years ago at LS as it was coming out of the corkscrew.

I was playing around with some high speed black and white film to get a grainy vintage look

Cool Pic!
What a drive by MS today!! Think the new Ferrari is getting sorted.

Loved the Datona's ever since I was 6. 2 years ago was fun. I was in 7th heaven at Sears Point a few years back when all of them were together again.
